Hospice Society Honoured By Lheidli T’enneh
Prince George, B.C. – The Lheidli T’enneh First Nation has recognized the invaluable work done by the Prince George Hospice Society through the presentation of a number of gifts to its Spiritual Care Room.
During a gathering Friday afternoon Chief Dominic Frederick presented the society with a Lheidli T’enneh blanket, such as those used as honour gifts at ceremonial events. He also presented three eagle feathers, one each representing a man, mother and child, two dream catchers and a drum and stick.
“We are excited and honored to receive these gifts that will increase our ability to ensure that our guests and family members are able to fulfill their spiritual needs while staying at the Rotary Hospice House,” said Mrs. Donalda Carson, Executive Director for the Prince George Hospice Society.
The Spiritual Care Room will provide a surrounding environment that is both comfortable and culturally respectful that acknowledges Lheidli T’enneh. “Lift your heart,” Chief Frederick says, “First Nations people come together to lift each other’s heart during times of sorrow to support and comfort families.”
