Legebokoff Case Nearing Jury Deliberation
Prince George, B.C.- The multiple murder trial of Cody Alan Legebokoff is expected to enter another stage today as BC Supreme Court Justice Glen Parrett is scheduled to start giving his instructions to the jury.
The instructions will include legal information such as the difference between first and second degree murder.
Last week, Legebokoff’s lawyer, James Heller, called on the jury to find his client guilty of second degree murder in the deaths of Jill Stuchenko, Cynthia Maas, Natasha Montgomery and Loren Leslie. Heller says his client has admitted to being an accessory but not to delivering the death blows in the killings.
The Crown on the other hand, has advised the jury that it believes Legebokoff should be found guilty of first degree murder as it is the Crown’s submission that Legebokoff planned and deliberated the killings which the Crown says were done in the course of a sexual assault.
Justice Parrett had indicated last week that his instructions will take at least one day to complete.
