Legebokoff Tries to Plead Guilty to Lesser Charge
Prince George, B.C. – Cody Alan Legebokoff , charged with the first degree murders of Jill Stuchenko, Cynthia Maas, Natasha Montgomery and Loren Leslie, tried to change his plea in those killings.
Count by count, Legebokoff told the court he was not guilty of first degree murder, but would plea guilty to second degree murder. The plea change attempt coming moments before Justice Glen Parrett was to start his instructions to the jury.
But that change in plea had to be approved by Crown, which has rejected the pleas to a lesser count in each of the murders.
The courtroom was humming, not because of the proposed change in pleas, but because of a technical glitch which produced an annoying hum that could be heard throughout courtroom 104. Justice Parrett has adjourned court for an hour with hopes technical staff can make the necessary repairs before he starts his charge to the jury.
