Chetwynd, B.C. – The BC Wildfire Management Branch is asking the public to refrain from entering the area where the roughly 26,000 hectare Mt. McAllister fire is still burning.

The branch says forest service roads used by wildfire personnel has recently seen an increase in public traffic on these roads, including attempts by the public to access areas where the wildfire is burning.

In a statement they caution the area includes multiple potential hazards to the public “including danger trees, heavy equipment use, and unstable temporary access routes and fire guards.”

They also warn that by entering the area it puts not only the public at risk but also the safety of wildfire crews.
