Legebokoff One Sick Puppy
What was most frightening was to watch Cory Legebokoff sitting in the prisoner’s box. You may have had the same feeling I did, that this young man could have come home with your daughter in tow and you might have welcomed him into your home.
That is what made him so frightening, and while he has opted for a shaved head and pencil beard, he never the less could have passed off as a nice guy, not a serial killer which he really was.
By all accounts at his place of work, he was generally thought of, well , to the point that some of his co workers had him over for dinner with their family.
He was for sure under the radar.
Think about it , a serial killer at 20, makes him some sort of celebrity in the sick world.
Had it not been for a heads up by a young constable in Vanderhoof, he might still be out there and you can bet the death toll would be much higher. Had it not been for that alert young police officer watching a truck bounce along a forestry road in an erratic manner and then roar onto the highway , his fourth victim may have never been found, or at the very least, it could not be pinned on him.
This man is a psychopathic killer, no if’s or buts, and a 25 year sentence while a portion of a life time, does not bring the young women back who fell prey to him.
If Clifford Olson was one sick puppy, Cory Legebokoff is his litter mate.
I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.

Well said Ben. Thanks. Probably now the less said about him the better.
And now the cost to keep him in prison will start to add up. 4 first degree murder convictions, he should be put to death. Oh, and put Olson beside him.
Firstly frank2, Clifford Olson died in prison almost three years ago from Cancer. Second, I think we are a far more civilized nation here in Canada for NOT having the death penalty. Killing Cody Legebokoff for his crimes would not bring any of those women back, nor would having the death penalty have prevented this sick individual from committing these crimes in the first place. The U.S. is a prime example of that. These lyrics from this great song, say it all, in this man’s opinion:
In his Zippo lighter, he sees the killer’s face, maybe
it’s someone standing in a killer’s place. Twenty years for nothing, well that’s
nothing new, besides, no one’s interested in something you didn’t do
Wheat kings and pretty things, let’s just see what the morning brings
Oh you have not heard the last of him. ..there will be a book out possibly a movie. ..and our sick society will buy and watch what ever. ..there should be laws against people making money over these sick and discusting individuals. ..the hey his man should be put to death and no one should profit from him…
Besides which, with the death penalty comes ultimate right of appeal (at least in the USA) and that costs an awful lot more than warehousing someone for 25 years plus. Last time I checked, it cost upwards of 10 million dollars in the state of California (court costs, legal fees, etc.).
Yes the death penalty isn’t perfect Viking but allowing this scum to share the same air as the rest of us won’t bring back those women either. I think the ancients had a pretty good punishment for crime, throwing him up on a cross seems like the appropriate thing to do in this case.
10 years of appeals for a death penalty? no thanks. solitary confinement for 23 hours a day seems a more apt punishment.
Will put in the next grave beside Olsen. And as for you bleeding harts, you are the prime reason we have a messed up system I’m place now. If we allow a solider to be shot for having an axe in his hand and consider it ok letting it pass , then I have no problem shooting a mother f&&ker who murdered four kids, women, etc Its like removing a virus. Signed peace loving Frank1
Frank, you’re not seeking justice, you’re seeking revenge, which makes you just as sick as psychopath in mention. Besides, it doesn’t make you a bleeding heart to have the simple common sense to realize the death penalty just does not work. All you have to do is look at the US states with the death penalty, which also have the highest murder rates. And this is quite aside from the issue of the courts getting it wrong and convicting people who aren’t guilty.
I did not know Cynthia, Natasha and Jill but I’m sure they had kind hearts. But I knew Loren-as a student in Grade 2 in elementary school. She was a neat little girl and very friendly. Many of my friends’ daughters were friends with Lauren.
I think Cody’s attempt at less time served was despicable and I’m glad everyone thought so. Somehow x,y, and z doesn’t play into the picture. We all know one man can be capable of wicked things.
I hope this allows for some peace for families.
Thanks for finally allowing for opinions on the matter
He stands to receive Life in prison, with no chance of parole for 25 years for each count of murder he was found to be guilty of. It is highly unlikely that this young man coukd stand before anyone in 25 years and connvice them he is a changed man. In order for him to even be eligible to stand in front a padole board in 25 years, his sentences would need to be served concurrently, and not consecutively.
While there is no doubt he is a very sick individual, I believe there is much more to this story. What does a young man see in his life that leads him to commiting such violent and angry murders.
The difficult question is What turned him into a serial killer?
We know that he accompanied his grandpa to hunting animals when he was younger and he expressed to the young cop his joy of killing animals.
How much his upbringing in Fort St James contributed, and how much his later use of crack cocaine, or his easy access to drug addicts and sex workers in Prince George?
He is a younger version of the BC other serial killer, Pickton the pig farmer who mainly targeted the sex workers in Vancouver.
Oh, I imagine the prison population will exact some punishment upon this guy.
Maybe it is more than 4, he has never told the truth to anyone. So sad he ruined his life and everyone else’s.
I don’t understand how that sick bastard can be eligible for parole in 25 years …. 4 1st degree convictions should amount to each with no chance of parole for 25 years, which would make him eligible in 25 X 4 = 100 years. The canadian system is very flawed and stupid. In the US, a person can get life with “NO PAROLE ELIGIBILITY” … why the hell can’t a judge do that in Canada …. they shouldn’t have to be bound by the 25 year crap. If he ever gets out he will murder again. If we can’t have the death penalty back, then at the very least give judges more control of sentences .. let them tailor them to fit the crime(s). I do not like all the mandatory sentences imposed by our government; it’s stupid and doesn’t work. Politicians should trust that judges are better equipped to decide what fits the crime. This guy should never get out. To demonstrate how lopsided our system it; there is currently a dangerous offender case in the news where a man who’d never murdered anyone (his conviction was aggravated assault) where someone has decided he should never get out … that is also stupid and excessive for assault. We need to judges to be able to imprison someone for the rest of their natural life, which is what this sick POS should get.
Hang’em!
Yeah prof he was a hunter. That’s gotta be what helped him turn into a human killer. Ridiculous!!!
I just raised a question and I highlighted some facts in his environment. Dragonmaster, you can tell us your opinion on What turned him into a serial killer. I don’t know if anyone has done research into the profile of Pickton and compare his profile with this guy. The profiles of BC serial killers. It would make a good subject for a thesis.
The Protecting Canadians by Ending Sentence Discounts for Multiple Murders Act, which came into effect in 2011, means judges can now impose parole ineligibility periods of up to 75 years in cases of multiple homicide. Thank you Mr. Harper !
I can’t imagine a case more fitting case ! Regardless, in order to be eligible for parole you must first admit your guilt and be remorseful. He has done neither and any change now will just be seen as his attempt to manipulate the system ! His chance of ever getting parole is slim as X,Y & Z being arrested ! He will never get out !
Dragonmaster, the point Prof made is a valid one. What is common of most serial killers is that at some point in their lives they get a sense of enjoyment from torturing & killing animals. Then they move on to human prey. It has nothing to do with hunting.
I read a book years ago on serial killers & mass murderers. The author was struck as to the seeming normalcy, at least on the surface, of these people. They could be the guy next door & you would never know it. What triggers it? Genetic defects? Environment? So far no one has really figured it out, but there are some signs to watch for such as torturing & killing animals for “fun”.
Prof, you say “he expressed to the young cop his joy of killing animals”. I followed this case pretty close and never read anywhere that he said such a thing. Please provide your source.
Does being brought up in the Fort mean we have to be watchful of others that have been?
detoe44, Where was it stated this guy was killing animals for fun?
detoe, I was also thinking of triggers when I mentioned environment. His use of crack cocaine brings the possibility of change of chemical balance in his brain. Hopefully a student/prof in UNBC psychology program will look into it more closely considering that his hometown and the murder scenes are in the neighborhood and the subject, his friends, family and victim’s family and friends are more accessible for a student in PG than in Montreal.
For PG with its low population of less than 80,000, to have a serial killer, it is a possibility of more than 1 in 100,000. For the greater Vancouver to have a serial killer, we are talking about the possibility of less than 1 in a million. PG is 10 times worse.
Dragonmaster, the arresting officer made the statement about killing animals for fun. The point I made is similar. Serial killers often start out by torturing or killing animals. Why do you think Kayla Bourque received so much attention?
Prof, that’s a huge leap in logic to say PG is 10 times worse than Vancouver because of 1 serial killer caught in the last 30 years. By manipulating your numbers, Ft. St. James is 100 times worse than Vancouver, after all that is where Legebokoff was born & raised. Of course that is simply not true, serial killers may well be just an aberration of nature. Who knows where they are or will pop up? The FBI believes there are, at any given time, dozens of serial killers on the loose. Quite sobering & really no given pattern as to when & where they are.
Just to clarify, LIFE with the opportunity of parole in 25 years. Not sure why this is hard to grasp. Same sentence as Olson. He will NEVER see the streets again. They will Never give him parole.
I agree that one swallow does not make a summer, but the sad reality is that both PG and Fort St James have drug and crime problems and both are in competition for the crime capital of Canada. PG was named the crime capital of Canada in 2011 and we are on the path of unsolved murders of HW16 of tears. Any solution?
Look at cases like Legebokoff. Was he killing people before leaving Fort St James? Was he killing folks in Letbridge? When did he start killing folks and using drugs? Is he mentally sick and his X Y is paranoia or way to avoid justice? Has his English grammar been always bad or his cognitive abilities have reduced later after drug use? Too many unanswered questions.
Let go back to ” eye for a eye and a tooth for a tooth” as written in the Good Book and forget about modified justice for the tender harts.
I’m all for the death penalty and Cody is one reason for it. The only thing they would need to change is the appeals after appeals. One chance for appeal then a bullet to the head (even though he deserves to suffer but that may be too barbaric for some).
Hi jess
Cst.Aaron Kehler, you weren’t in Timmy’s, you weren’t cooling your heels in the police office, you were out doing your job. Because of your observations and actions, a lot of people now have closure over the loss of loved ones. And the system has parked one sick socio/psychopath for a very long time. My hats off to you friend. THANKYOU!
I agree the constable deserves a medal, or promotion, or something for acting on his instinct and stopping this killer before he could kill again.
I think most definitely the killers upbringing in Fort St James is the biggest contributing factor. There is some bad kids in that town that have no respect for anyone… lots of unsolved murders can be traced back to the Fort.
I think its called the Cottenwood Park on the lake there with a children’s wood fort slide. I stopped there with my kid when passing through and bunch of punk white kids hanging out on the slide wouldn’t get out of the way for a toddler… I thought who the hell raises these kids. The one kid was on the roof of the damn thing with a pellet gun shooting at who knows what. Just a bunch of hooligans I called them, but what can a guy do when there is six of them and I had my kid to worry about… so we left and my boy was upset he couldn’t play on the slide.
I heard the young man from Vanderhoof that was beheaded in the Fort a few years back was actually the ex boyfriend of the girl from Vanderhoof that has been missing… I bet you crack one of those two cases and you crack them both… its just too much of a coincidence. Sad thing is this guy was killed and got the dandelion treatment with a house full of kids from the Fort partying, and yet not one of them will come forward and talk to the police…. it speaks volumes for that town IMO. I think the vast majority of violent crime in PG also originates from visitors from that town.
What gets me about this serial killer is that he couldn’t even give a location for the one missing girl who’s body has never been located. Wow, he already knows he is going to jail for life, so why not offer closure to the family. I suspect he is holding that back for some kind of leverage in prison maybe… that fact alone he should never be allowed to see a parole board.
I think you put in him an American army uniform and military tattoos, and then drop him in the dessert near an isis camp thats just been stirred up… the fear he would have in his final days would be fitting for his crimes.
