Smithers Woman Killed in Highway 16 Crash
Houston, B.C. – One person is dead and another injured following a two vehicle collision on Highway 16, 10 km west of Topley Friday.
Corporal Philip Crack with the Integrated Road Safety Unit in Terrace says it happened at around noon and involved a westbound Lincoln Navigator and an eastbound Dodge Campervan.
He says the crash killed the 60 year old female driver of the Campervan and sent the 22 year old male driver of the Navigator to hospital in Burns Lake with non-life threatening injuries.
Crack says there was only one occupant in each vehicle and says an investigation into what caused the crash is underway.
No names have been released but he says the deceased female was from the Smithers area while the male driver is from Houston.
The accident closed the highway for several hours.
