Prince George, B.C. – Dozens of people are participating in today’s AIDS Walk for Life at Masich Place Stadium in Prince George.

Positive Living North, an organization that provides support, awareness education and prevention services to those living with, affected by, and at risk for AIDS, helped organize the event.

Executive Director Vanessa West says they currently provide services to at least 185 people in Prince George but says determining how many people have HIV in the northern region isn’t easy to figure out.

“It’s a difficult number to come to because there’s so many people living with HIV that don’t know their status so that’s why we’re really trying to promote testing, especially in rural and remote communities.”

The walk has also been co-sponsored by Scotiabank.
