Vanderhoof Resident Wins Woodlot Award
Prince George, B.C. – A Vanderhoof resident has been honoured for his commitment to stewardship and innovative marketing practices in woodlot management.
Clayton Foster received the $2,500 award for the North region from Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Minister Steve Thomson at the Federation of B.C. Woodlot Association’s annual conference in Golden. He is one of four British Columbians who run small, community-based forestry operations who was recognized with an award for innovation and excellence in woodlot management.
Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad says “woodlots across our province create jobs in planning, road construction, harvesting, maintenance, reforestation, and small-scale timber processing. Under the dedicated leadership of people like Clayton Foster, the woodlot industry makes a difference to our local and provincial economies.”
Each year, the awards, funded and administered by the B.C. government and the Federation of BC Woodlot Associations, recognize woodlot licensees from each of the Coast, South and North regions, along with an overall top performer.
