Saturday, September 20, 2014 @ 12:21 PM

Prince George, B.C. – Hot on the heels of ratification of the new contract covering B.C. teachers, seven  more school districts, including District 57, and almost 3,200 support staff workers have ratified new agreements.

CUPE locals 3742 and 4991 represent 905 support workers in District 57. The six other districts reaching deals are:

  • SD 37 (Delta) – 1,032 support staff workers (CUPE Local 1091)
  • SD 42 (Maple Ridge- Pitt Meadows) – 764 support staff workers (CUPE Local 703)
  • SD 51 (Boundary) – 109 support staff workers (CUPE Local 2098)
  • SD 58 (Nicola-Similkameen) – 150 support staff workers (CUPE Local 847)
  • SD 74 (Gold Trail) –182 support staff workers (CUPE Local 173)
  • SD 87 (Stikine) – 48 support staff workers (CUPE Local 3234)

The term of the new agreement for each district is from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2019. It provides for a 5.5% wage increase over the five years of the term, with potential for additional increases if the B.C. economy exceeds the annual forecasts set by the Economic Forecast Council during the last four years of the agreement.

So far approximately 15,600 support staff workers in 36 school districts have fully ratified agreements in place. That’s 46% of the total support staff workers in B.C. school districts. The remaining districts are working to ratify agreements by November.

yIker should sit in on a few of these negotiations and see how it is done

So should fastbender

CUPE negotiates with the same people as the BCTF, the only difference is no yIker. The BCPSEA seems to have no problem with getting a deal done at the table with CUPE even without Vince Ready.

No the difference is no ripped up contract..

Two absolutely different situations. But that doesn’t matter to any of the haters does it?

Slinky, you’re an idiot. CUPE hasn’t had their constitutional rights violated nor are they subject to the contempt that this regime has shown our teachers. Do a little research next time so you don’t come across as an uninformed moron.

The strike is finished but the daily beatings must continue I see.

Just for fun, can someone explain to me where this contempt came from with the BCTF and their inability to sign a deal for the 20 years before this court case that everyone hangs their hat on?

Who’s the hater Dragon? Just saying yIker needs some training in what he was hired to do, and this would be a perfect way to get it.

Spoken like a true teacher Saruman, they also settled for 5.5 over 5 to make them happy I see instead of signing bonus for last year and 7.25 over the next 5. Like the schoolyard chant goes ‘sticks and stones may break my bones, but your names will never hurt me’.

Not a teacher, just weary of teacher bashing Liberal toadies. Why so bitter slinky? Bad experience in “Special class”?

Saruman, if you wish to bring up the subject of “contempt”, you really must be sure to bring up the 30 years or so of “contempt” that the BCTF has exhibited towards whatever political party happened to be in power, and the complete “contempt” exhibited towards the taxpayers!

As you so eloquently put it: “Do a little research next time so you don’t come across as an uninformed moron.”

You tell us. You’re one of the most most hate filled people around here.

Bitter Sarumen? Hardly. Just because I think yIker did more harm to the teachers rep than good doesn’t make me bitter, I am glad he finally came to his senses and got serious. Nothing but flowers and cupcakes from me, PVal, Dragon, and Sarumen… Now there’s some venom in the saliva by the replies

Hey, are we ever hyped-up this morning .Try and get along.
Cheers

Slinky and Hart guy have excellent memories, and well done.
Think Saruman needs to quit calling people down, talk about bitterLOL
