Fall Arrives This Evening

Monday, September 22, 2014 @ 3:58 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Autumn will officially arrive in  B.C. at 7:29 tonight and by that time it will feel like a new season.

Environment Canada is calling for a major cool down today following the record setting  sunshine filled weekend in Prince George.

Sunday saw the temperature hit 27 degrees, warmest  September 21st since 1950 when the temp hit 26.7

Saturday was also a record breaker, with the temp climbing to  24.2,  just  a touch  higher than the 23.9 mark reached on September 20th in 1987.

The Autumnal Equinox is the  start of the  nights being longer than the days as there are fewer hours of daylight.

The fall is also the time of year when the number of vehicle crashes increases. While distracted driving still plays a significant role as the cause of crashes, reduced daylight and  changing road conditions provide challenges  that require drivers to adjust their driving behaviours and speeds for those conditions.

What a excellent summer for those of us that enjoy being outside. Swimming was the best year in many years. Loved it!

Spent the weekend at Ness Lake. It was absolutely beautiful. We have had an amazing summer.
