Closing In on Start of Election Nomination Period
Prince George, B.C. – The official nomination period for the municipal election has yet to start, but interest is growing.
Deputy Elections Officer for the City of Prince George, Deanna Wasnik says 30 nomination packages have already been picked up from City Hall . She says there is no way of knowing how many packages may have been downloaded from the City’s website and printed from that source.
The official nomination period starts on September 30th and ends at 4pm on October 10th.
At this point, the following have made their intentions clear:
Candidate | Position They are Seeking |
Frank Everitt (incumbent) | Councilor |
Garth Frizzell (incumbent) | Councilor |
Albert Koehler (incumbent) | Councilor |
Murry Krause (incumbent | Councilor |
Brian Skakun (incumbent) | Councilor |
Cameron Stolz (incumbent) | Councilor |
Dave Wilbur(incumbent) | Councilor |
Lyn Hall (current Councilor) | Mayor |
Don Zurowski (former Councilor) | Mayor |
Terry McConnachie | Councilor |
Susan Scott | Councilor |
Jillian Merrick | Councilor |
Debora Munoz (former Councilor) | Councilor |
The list above accounts for 13 nomination packages. That would suggest there are at least 17 others who are, at the very least, contemplating entering the race.
And just a point to keep in mind, election signage is not permitted to be displayed until September 30th. Anyone who has positioned signs before that date, has jumped the gun.
