The Sea of White Returns
Friday, September 26, 2014 @ 6:00 PM
Prince George, B.C.- For the first time in years, the CN Centre will see the return of “the Sea of White”.
Last night, EDGEPRo Sports staff carefully laid out a 5th Line t-shirt on each and every seat in the CN Centre. The shirts declare “WE are the Fifth Line”.
The Sea of White harkens back to the days when the CN Centre was packed to the rafters with fans, all wearing white shirts of one sort or another, producing a wave of intimidation for the visiting team.
Fans were lined up this morning before Ticketmaster even opened, to either buy tickets, or pick up the ones they had ordered.

This is awesome , Go Cougars ,, hope you have an awesome season.
Nice feature on the new site, being able to expand the photographs in the news story with a click of the mouse.
Looks like opposing teams will face a sea of white again!
Sold out here tonight!
You’re all missing out if you’re not at the game!
Whats the score lildigger?
Good to see. Hopefully the fan appreciation doesn’t end after opening night. After several years of not even being able to give my spare tickets away it’s great to see the fans return.
Good crowd at the game. 5659 attendance. Score not so good. Kelowna 7 PG 2.
7 goals 2 games in a row new Cougars look a lot like old cougars
A loss but the cats lead the western division in penalty minutes!
You gotta live it.
But maybe the 5th line was the best line tonight?
Fun game in spite of the loss, but way too many very costly penalt1es!
Andy, I did mention “discipline” earlier today, didn’t I??
Can’t win a game sitting in the penalty box!! DISCIPLINE!!
But still a fun time, haha! Go COUGARS Go!!
We have plenty of games left. Still a huge learning curve for all of us both on and off the ice. The one thing that’s totally clear is that EVERYONE involved with the Cougars is 100% committed to bringing this team to the very top of the WHL. We have a lot to prove, and it will take time, but I hope the fans will see that our foot will remain firmly planted hard on the gas pedal and we won’t be satisfied until we are full every single home game and we bring home the ‘big’ banner!! There will be no excuses, and no backing down from our commitment. And we are sure lucky to have our great fans and this great city to run this team in. Thanks everyone who came out tonight for this historic moment! And now, we get ready for tomorrow nights game.
…. door to exit the bandwagon to your left. its gonna take time to remove the brodstinkski
from the nopro era. this is still just lower tier team. it will be better atmosphere but it will suck to
have a 40 minute exit from the parking lot after a blowout loss. at
least last year it was only 5 minutes. o,connor did lay it on pretty thick
again at home.
Thanks Andy for you and your team putting together a great night. Not the result anybody wanted, but I definitely will be out to more games this season.
Andy, it felt awful lonely in the stands over the past several years. It sure was great to have the place filled with fans!
I think that we lost the game and our momentum due to bad penalties! The refs seem to be calling almost every little thing so the boys need to put more effort into “clean” play so that they aren’t playing short-handed so much!!!
Still, it was a fun night and we hope for many many more! By the way, winning is way more fun than not winning, haha!
Great atmosphere but we still have one lousy hockey team! Oh well, despite the losing over the past few years I still keep going because it’s a fun game to watch. It’s even more fun when they win but that will come! The boys must have been nervous.
And yeah, like Hart Guy says, stay out of the penalty box! They took a lot of stupid penalties last night.
Being full every home game may be a lofty goal. Not sure any WHL team can do that.
Lets not forget there is a big difference between the actual number of people attending a game, and the number of tickets sold. In other words you can show attendance at say 3000 when 500 season ticket holders did not attend a game. This is kind of misleading. Perhaps this year they could show the actual attendance as opposed to the number of ticket sales.
In any event the ticket sales are where the money is, and if they have a number of business’s buying season tickets to support them, that’s a good thing.
Bottom line is fan satisfaction, and money in the bank.
It’s called paid attendance palapou^^^!
A ticket sold is what counts not asses in seats.
Andy……….. call me when they win a few games in a row at home! Brodski started full rinks too, I seem to recall.
Cats 2 Rockets 7 = another loss, but as was pointed out there’s lots more games (to lose) ahead.
BTW The Sprucekings won theirs……
lildigger. According to Beesley it all about the fans, and filling the seats. Its hard to play to empty seats.
I agree that we need the sales for the revenue, however you also need fan attendance.
They won’t fill the stands every night, that’s a given. If they can raise their nightly average attendance over the course of a season, I would say that’s a success.
And let’s not make excuses for the loss. The better team won last night. The Cougars took a lot of dumb penalties.
