Prince George, B.C. – With about a month to go in the Interior Drive for Life Prince George continues to trail competing Kelowna.

Territory Manager Amy Erickson with Canadian Blood Services says PG has realized 86% of its donation target to date, while Kelowna is at 94% of its target.

She says the friendly competition is in honour of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and notes the organization also recently activated its Blood Signal.

“Higher than expected cancellations and no-shows have put pressure on the national blood supply. Interior Drive for Life is a chance for local residents to help continue our mission to outdo Kelowna in blood collections while giving a timely boost to our national inventory.”

Those wanting to give blood can do so at the Prince George Donor Clinic at 2277 Westwood Drive on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday every four weeks from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The contest runs until October 30. You can learn more at blood.ca or by calling 1-888-236-6283.
