Tax Sale Set for Today

Monday, September 29, 2014 @ 3:55 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The annual tax sale of lands in the City of Prince George to recoup outstanding taxes, is scheduled to start at 10 this morning in the  Council Chambers at City Hall.

Unless full payment of outstanding taxes and penalties has been received before the 10 a.m. start today, the properties will be  offered for sale by public auction.

The properties that were listed on the September 24th list include the property on George Street that used to be the home of Ric’s Grill. The outstanding taxes on that property were just over $60 thousand dollars.

Also on the list circulated last week,  the  Willow Inn, ( formerly  the Homeland Inn and the Ranch Motel) which had its business license  suspended earlier this year because of the living conditions  in the building. The outstanding taxes for that piece of property are just over $27 thousand dollars.

It is possible these two properties will be removed from the list come auction time as the property owners have until 10 this morning to pay the outstanding taxes and penalties.

So whatever happened to Ric’s Grill? We didn’t go there a lot but always enjoyed our meals there. Not a big fan of The Keg as I thought Ric’s had the better steak.

Anyone know?

The end of an era,
No more Ric’s grill.
But heh on the bright side, we have two north something or other restaurants now!
Business must be alright?

Anyone know the story about what happened to Ric’s Grill?

didn’t ricks grill move to the Casino?

I think they changed the name to “Ric’s Lounge and Grill”..maybe not the same people

The casino location was owned by the same people but is Hummus(?) Brothers last time I looked. There was a sign on the downt

It has been closed down for long time now at casino and hummus brothers are there

I did not see Camron Stolz name on that list. Maybe he paid his tax this year!!

The casino location was owned by the same people but is Hummus(?) Brothers last time I looked. There was a sign on the downtown location saying it was closed due to money owing to CRA.

The partners of Ric’s on George were invited to take over the failed restaurant space at the Casino and set up the Ric’s Lounge and Grill as a 2nd PG location. It too failed in that location. This appears to have set the partners in a major financial bind and the company collapsed causing the chain to start closing franchises all over BC/AB. We were at the George Street location at the end of February for a birthday and the service/product was well below the previous standards. After a lacklustre meal (not the lone server’s fault) we vowed to never return. Now the Hummus Bros have moved into the casino location and I have to wonder how long they will survive – that location seems doomed….

where is the list of properties up for sale?

There are plenty of good restaurants in town! Hopefully some other viable business will start up in the locations mentioned above. If not, there must be a bylaw which specifies the condition that unused buildings and lots are to be kept in! There are far too many eyesores especially in the downtown. Empty lots should be levelled and landscaped and empty buildings painted and kept secure. If the (often absentee owners) fail to do their part, the city must do it and add the bill to their annual taxes. If they don’t pay they forfeit the property at the next tax sale. Plain and simple.

Ric’s was in trouble a long time before they opened shop up in the Casino.

They’ve closed down most of their restraunt across the province and into the next.
