Cougars Day at Kal Tire
Prince George, B.C. – Fresh off their weekend doubleheader against Kelowna, PG Cougar players were at Kal Tire today for a game of street hockey with their adoring young fans.
“It’s a league wide effort. It’s a new initiative that Kal Tire’s doing this year. They want to bring some people in the stores and gets kids playing,” says Alyson Chambers, Director of Marketing with the Western Hockey League.
“We’re staging events through the end of October so it’s PG, Vancouver, and Prince Albert this weekend.”
It included street hockey, a barbecue and a chance for youngsters to rub shoulders with some WHL players.
“It’s a chance to unwind, meet the players and really just have fun,” says Cougars Business VP Andy Beesley.
“The players have a lot of responsibility, a lot of the guys want to be pro hockey players, but once you break out the nets and sticks they’re laughing and having fun.”
