Go Brian Go. Brian always had the time to reply to my emails. He trys to look after the tax payer.
Cheers
Enough of the meaningless pre election boilerplate.
What is your stand on the performing arts center and do you think that conforms with opinion of a majority of the people you hope to represent at the council table?

As a resident of Abbotsford you don’t have any skin in the game or a ballot to put an x on in PG. No (drive-in) Farmer’s markets down there today?
Never been a fan of Skakun, but he’ll probably get back in based on name recognition and he’s got enough people drinking his kool-aid.
Performing Arts Center- Opinion 250 should do a story listing each of the City Council Candidates stance on the PAC.
I’m proud to be a fan of Brian Skakun. He doesn’t mind taking on any of the issues that come up, he gets informed, he keeps us informed, and he cares enough to want to make the city of Prince George a better place to live, in spite of any of the obstacles he has had to face. I’ll drink his kool-aid any day!
Why bother with an election. Just give him his seat now and let the rest of them bash it out. In my 40 years in PG he is one of the only councillors that has had the balls to speak his mind and hold true to his conviction. If we had even two more like him we could get rid of the rest of council and make things really happen.
I think that this election we need to use more of our brain and less of our emotions.
We first need to keep in mind that some Mayors and Councilors are mainly concerned with the interests of those who supported them during the elections, or they are business, developer, orientated and do not have the concerns of the average taxpayer uppermost in their minds. These people work closely with the City Manager and Administration to getting their agenda pushed forward.
We need some balance at City Hall. We need a good cross section of Councillors and a Mayor that are concerned with the whole City rather than just their pet interests.
In that regard I would say that Skakun fills a roll in that he does support the average person to a larger degree that some other Councillors. Skakun however has been outvoted on almost every issue he has brought forward.
It wasn’t until Hall was able to cobble together a coalition of Councillors ie; Krause, Frizell, Skakun, Everitt, that they were able to stop the Green, Stoltz, Wilbur, Koehler steam roller.
So with Green gone, we now need to have a Council that will be concerned with the overall good of Prince George. This means re electing those who worked for us all, and some new Councillors who would also work for us all, and not electing those who basically ran roughshod over us for the past three years.
This is a very important election, and everyone should give due consideration to how they vote, and in addition work with everyone you know to ensure that we get the vote out.
Have a nice day.
At least Brian is entertaining?
He is mildly entertaining. He has proven he has no problem wasting our tax money. He asked for us to cover his legal fees when he was found guilty of leaking private documents. He has proven he isn’t always truthful to the citiEns of PG? Remember when he was first asked about the leaking of the documents he said NO he didn’t, then once more evidence was brought o light he changed his story to ” yeah I might have”. Then he finally came out and said yes I did do it.
He will get back in for no other reason than name recognition, that is why you will see him in the media tons from now till election.
And please tell us your thoughts on the PAC Brian.
It is not hard to find the expense accounts to who is spending a who is not.
The most entertaining part was the absolute disdain, bordering on hatred directed his way by the mayor which she did not even try to hide.
I think his union pick up at least a portion of his legal fees. The city did settle some lawsuits with the parties in the leaked document case but we will likely never find the true cost because of confidentially agreements in place.
Work place bullying exposed at the expense of Brian’s hide.
X-it. There are legal avenues to take to bring work place bullying to light. Brian chose to do it the illegal way.
Palopu I think your analysis of the current council is fairly accurate. I am not sure that Hall was the driving force in forming a coalition. I think he got that role by default as none of the others were prepared to take a run at Green. Hall is too like Rogers in my opinion but will wait and see. I still need to be convinced that he has what it takes to get into the snake pit at City Hall and make some changes.
I’m glad Brian is running again. He has a no BS approach and he doesn’t like to be bullied into conforming. He’s his own person and he stands up for the taxpayers of this city. There’s only a few others on Council who can say the same. I wish he would have run for Mayor.

While I’m all for a maverick on council I don’t think Skakun is that man. I find him to be nothing more then another self-serving political opportunist. A lot of hot air on nonsense issues but little substance when it comes to the hard issues.
Of course, the same can be said for all the other candidates so I guess we’re screwed no matter what.
Here is why Brian won’t run for mayor. He makes more money at the job he has now. Add what he makes from being on council and he makes a lot more than the mayor. He has no real responsibility as council member and at the mill he does rounds and drinks coffee. He doesn’t get hassled as much as the mayor and he rarely does anything of notice on council.
Brian, are you for or against a Performing Arts Center?
I’m for Brian
The PAC is a hot subject. If you are not sure what each candidate rates on a PAC – ASK!.
As for me I have my answers already after watching, reading and hearing this council and a couple of wannabes at council and in the news. – including some of the blogs…..
Do people forget what was said at council when the PAC presented their last presentation? Look it up on the city website when they were in front of council, and council all voted for the city administration to look into options. Another waste of taxpayers money down the tube.
Let’s be honest, anyone asking “where do you stand on the PAC” is looking for someone to say “NO WAY!”. I doubt anyone will come out dead against it. At best we will hear some wishy washy “not at this time” or “not until funds are in place”.
So true Interceptor.
What items are required to blow smoke up a dead pigs a$$ axman?
So, why is it that no candidate will come out firmly against the PAC?
