Canadian Avalanche Centre Adopts New Name

Revelstoke, B.C. – The Canadian Avalanche Centre is starting a new decade of service with a new name and new logo.
Now called Avalanche Canada, the change was made, in part, to make the organization stand apart from others says Executive Director Gilles Valade “We wanted to create a brand identity that is separate from the Canadian Avalanche Association, the organization that serves and supports professional avalanche workers in Canada.”
While the name and log may be new, Avalanche Canada will provide the same service and programs as it has in the past.
The website will not change, so users can continue to visit www.avalanche.ca for avalanche safety information.

Seems like an unnecessary expenditure.
Not only is this a waste of money, but the new name is less clear than the old one as to the nature of the organization. “Canadian Avalanche Centre” gives you a pretty good idea of what it does. “Avalanche Canada” could be a sports team or the Canadian subsidiary of a company named “Avalanche”.
