Crash Causes Gridlock
Thursday, October 2, 2014 @ 2:30 PM
Prince George, B.C.- A three vehicle crash at Highway 16 west and Vance road this afternoon has caused serious back ups in traffic.
RCMP are still on the scene, and hope to have the intersection reopened momentarily.
Some people were sent to hospital for treatment of undetermined injuries, but how many were injured is not yet known.
The collision occurred around 1:30 this afternoon, and as the drivebc photo at right indicates, the line up was long.

Terrible drivers everywhere. Speeding, tailgating, using personal devices while driving.
There needs to be more enforcement.
I suppose your the worlds perfect driver that makes no mistakes.
wow…nice assumption lildigger…how do you know it wasn’t medical distress or vehicle malfunction. Our place is not to judge.
I don’t know if this was a left turn driver error, but this intersection needs an upgrade on the left turn lane signal light. It needs to be like the one at the Domano and Hwy 16 intersection so that you can’t turn left once the oncoming traffic has their green light.
I know accidents are caused by driver error, but we seem to have to protect ourselves from our own faults. I hope it doesn’t come down to someone dying at this intersection before something gets done about it.
I agree with mama t, it should have that same feature of the intersection of 16 & Domano.
This intersection, even before it was changed to double lanes and lights was a death trap for some.
Lost a few people coming down Peden Hill.
Yep. Visibility is terrible for left turns there. It’s not uncommon to be behind someone who is too timid to turn left on the green & will sit there and wait for the next filter.
But quick, someone blame cell phones.
Would be nice if the traffic lights would start flashing ,warning of a change like some places in Europe and even in the Yukon for that matter. As it is now most of your concentration is on the light and not what is happening in the intersection. Just look at all the skid marks for proof.
You can make all the changes in the world, it won’t stop dumbutt from screwing up.
Yeah. Good drivers always cause 3 car crashes.
Not sure if it.s my imagination, but appears more accidents happening in that area since they repaved the roads
Someone also doesn’t understand what ‘gridlock’ is.
People say the Hart is bad for idiots…the Harts like a drive in the park compared to going west to College Heights.
Roundabouts.
Wait a minute agent87, we have no proof that it wasn’t caused by Hartbillies heading for Wal-Mart. Since the Saan store closed, people up there will spend $12 bucks on gas to save $2 bucks on a t-shirt.
12 bucks for gas ,where can you get a deal like that…
I am continually amazed at how easily people slip into their lizard personas and bash other people who live in the SAME city as themselves, but not in the same neighbourhood. Always has to be an US vs. THEM pecking order, at least with some unfortunate folks. Its idiotic really, and that sort of behavior only illustrates poor breeding.
Me, I assume that those who slag are lacking in some vital aspects of socialization, or perhaps it is merely small penis syndrome.
metalman.

If the lights started flashing before they were about to change wouldn’t you still be paying attention to the lights instead of what was happening in the intersection?
metalman….. my apologies. I shouldn’t use the term ‘Hartbillies”. An area with 20,000 people is very vital to PG’s economy. I just can’t understand an area with 20,000 people that doesn’t even have a name let alone a store where you can buy a pair of socks or the (so I’m told) coveted pair of small size camo gaunch.
Your issue should be with your community as much as it should be with the other 50,000 people in this city. If the north side of town had any amenities it would alleviate some traffic in this town. Believe me, I hope you get your small size camo gaunch store someday, hell if you need Polaris on the back…..whatever. Don’t take it so hard metalman, someday the north area will get some lights on the road, crackheads and a 7-11. And a store that sells socks.
There shouldn’t be any lights at that intersection. There should be an overpass built. That hill is chaos in the winter, and has been the scene of many accidents. Especially dangerous when large trucks can’t stop in the winter. I don’t think that will ever happen, b/c god forbid there is highway investment outside of the lower mainland.
seamut, are you OK. watching the next guy can be dangerous.
Cheers
