McConnachie, Krause File Nomination Papers

Saturday, October 4, 2014 @ 3:49 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Two people who previously had announced their intention to run for a seat on Prince George City Council filed their nomination and disclosure documents on Friday.

Terri McConnachie, who champions a back-to-basics approach to governance, says we need to focus our tax dollars on the essentials, like water, sewer and safety. She believes the city needs to invest in repairing, replacing and updating ageing infrastructure and calls for communication and accountability at City Hall. McConnachie says now is not the time for a Performing Arts Centre.

Also filing Friday was incumbent councilor Murry Krause, who is seeking a sixth term at the council table. Krause is a proponent of a functional council with strong leadership and a team concept and is committed to working on issues such as infrastructure maintenance, affordable housing, social justice, quality of life, and civic pride. He believes we need to stop knocking the city and start building it up. He also wants to keep the Performing Arts Centre on the agenda, reliant upon securing funding.

Obtaining funds for a capital project (such as a PAC) is the easy part. It’s funding the on-going operating costs that can break the bank. The people behind the PAC proposal must show how the facility will pay for itself in the long run.

Time for Krause to hit the pasture, he’s had his chance.

If you haven’t proven yourself in two terms, then it’s time to go,period. It’s only social justice, if you can’t motivate change and accountability in one or two terms, move on. I would rather see money spent on things that serve the whole city (tax reduction, infrastructure, roads, sidewalks, public safety)not just a single group right now (PAC). Let’s get a crew in City Hall that think like a City and not a Village ( everyone knows we have more than our fair share of Idiots here).

Both these candidates are going to do great. They will represent the tax payers well and have great morals. You get my vote.

Professional – I would have agreed with you were the terms still three years, but with the new four year terms coming up, I would expect some good results by the end of their first term.

Krause wants another term.. and he wants to keep the PAC on the table..

So him doing nothing for 5 terms .. he wants functioning council.. after 5 terms he thinks it time he does something.. lol.. how about PAC your bags and say goodbye.. you did try.. and you did fail.. now move on and let some new blood onto council as anyone on there now is just making money for nothing.

Have been following the actions of PG city council for over 30 years. I believe Murry Krause has always brought a reasonable voice and vote to civic matters. He sees the bigger picture, it’s about us as citizens who need quality services. We can move forward with Murry on council.

Mr. Krause, here is an idea. You can run with it if you like. A combined services building. Performing Arts Centre in the front, social housing in the back. This way, for the 25 days of the month the PAC won’t see any use, the social housing project can utilize the kitchen facilities every day of the month. Might be a way to access some funding for the PAC. ;-)

Both Krause and McConnachie will do a great job. They have the best interest of pg,ers at heart. They get my vote

HAS. He sees the bigger picture.. Oh really .. The majority of Prince George is against the PAC and yet he wants to keep it on the agenda.. So you are saying he knows what’s best for us even if we disagree with him? That proves he is ignorant to what we want but only does what he wants.. Bye bye time

Krause has to go. He has been around too long. The lobby for the PAC also has to go. My vote will go for realists who want to get back to the affordable basics for the city and demonstrated competence related to spending of the taxpayers’ money.
