Junk in the Trunk Sale Goes Today
Prince George, B.C. – Neither rain nor wind nor sleet nor discounts at your favorite shopping location will stop the Junk in the Truck Sale today at the CN Centre parking lot.
“We had a pretty good downpour last year as I recall” says spokesperson Rachael Ryder, “but that didn’t stop most people from sticking it out right to the bitter end.” Ryder, the Waste Diversion Program Leader at the Regional District, is referring to the people who book a stall with a $10 donation to hopefully disburse of items they no longer have use for. She says organizers normally try to have the stall bookings finalized by Friday afternoon but adds, “people can come first thing Saturday morning, pay their $10 and will be added to the list.”
The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George teams up with REAPS for this event in an effort to bring together people who may want to sell or trade items they no longer want with those who are looking for such items. It’s also meant to promote re-use and recycling and to limit the amount of material ending up in the landfill. The event is held twice a year, in the spring and fall.
The Junk in the Truck Sale runs from 9 this morning until 1 this afternoon and, while it may be mostly cloudy with a 60% chance of showers this morning, there is sun and cloud in the forecast this afternoon and it should get up to about 17 degrees.
