Winter Games Finances on Track
Prince George, B.C.- In its latest update to Prince George City Council, the 2015 Canada Winter Games Society says it is very close to reaching its financial goals.
In the presentation, the Society says it is 97.9% funded, with $980,417 (2.1%) remaining to be over the top of the goal, with ticket and merchandise sales yet to reach their targets.
The old RCMP building will play a part in the Games, as it will be home to the Mission staff for the duration of the event.
There is also a program being developed with hotels in Quesnel and Vanderhoof for extra accommodation should it be needed.
The drive to have volunteers for the Games is also nearing its goal, with 4,300 in the system (95.8% of goal of 4,500).
And there are more details to come about the cultural aspect of the Games, with the Treasure Cove Casino offering a concert line up, live performances at the BCLC stage at the Civic Centre Plaza and fireworks each night from 9-10 p.m.

The single line item on our tax bill to support the games to the tune of some $15 Million is supposed to end in 2015. We need to ensure that this money is taken off the tax bill.
One would hope that the City would not implement the Storm Water Tax on the expiration of the Winter Games Tax so that they could continue to collect revenue that we are used to paying.
Would they do that?????
The storm water tax should be canceled by the next city council before it ever sees the day of implementation. It is an egregious tax grab full of convoluted assumptions.
I’d like to see a list of people on “staff” for the games, the positions held and what salaries are being paid.
Good for the winter games crew. Nice to see that they are so close to their goal. We need to remind the people that we elect this fall that the winter games tax needs to expire.
Before I believe any of this I would like to see the books.. It is bad that I have so much untrust but that comes with experience and constantly being lied to by people in charge
