Northern 9-1-1 Calls Officially Make the Switch to E-Comm

Tuesday, October 7, 2014 @ 4:33 PM

Prince George, B.C. – It’s official.

9-1-1 call service has been transferred to E-Comm from the Regional Districts of Fraser Fort-George, Cariboo, Bulkley-Nechako and Kitimat-Stikine.

It happened at 10:25 this morning and RDFFG Board Chair Art Kaehn calls it a positive step forward.

“The service is not going to change, it’s going to be better. The additional staffing resources that we don’t have in the north, the expertise that is with this organization and of course a big draw is the $365,000 we’re going to save a year.”

E-Comm says some of the transition tutoring for its staff included more than 540 hours of training to familiarize staff with the geography of the districts, though dispatching will continue to be managed locally.
