Peacock Vying for Council Seat
Prince George, B.C.- Former Citizen of the Year, Monica Peacock, has announced she is seeking a seat on Prince George city Council.
“I believe that communication, collaboration and compromise are definitely something that should be done in our community as a whole.”
Peacock says she loves the community “and I truly and utterly believe I have something to offer.”
Peacock was the organizer of the Evening of Pink, an annual fundraising dinner and dance to raise dollars for breast cancer research.
She says she sees infrastructure as one of the key issues that needs to be addressed by the City ” road rehabilitation, infrastructure, snow removal , all of those things have to be dealt with, but everyone’s pocket or wallet, is drained, so we have to be able to look at the community and say justify why you want to do it or how much we need to put away for it.”
Peacock says she believes Prince George needs a performing arts centre, but does not believe the City should be the one to pay for it.

Good another business woman stepping up to the plate. Lets see how she fairs against the others running, wish her luck. Don’t know her personally or professionally, just happy to see someone else who wants a kick at the civic cat (I like cats and don’t condone kicking them). Maybe a fresh face council is what we need here for a change.
Am I the only one who interpreted the headline literally?
I just hope that the new batch of councillors have the guts to start trimming city hall staff from the top on down.
This is the first new candidate I’ve wanted to hear more from. Hopefully we do.
