Prince George, B.C. – Achieving, believing, and caring.

That’s Bruce Wiebe’s approach to public education and it’s why after a 35 year career as an elementary school teacher and principal he’s decided to run for School Trustee in District 57.

His experience includes time spent in rural schools in Dunster, McBride, Hixon, and Nuko Lake along with urban experience at Malaspina and Vanway.

So why run now?

“I have grandchildren that are just entering the public school system so it’s a great time for me to get involved as a School Trustee to ensure we have great public schools throughout our school district.”

If elected, Wiebe says his goals include working to improve the support available for each classroom, “especially the roles of educational assistants, aboriginal workers and youth workers.”

He also says his years teaching in rural areas would give him a head start in the job.

“I learned first hand the challenges of smaller budgets, multi-age classes, limited access to district resources and long bus rides for students. This experience means I know the needs and challenges of our district and am able to make informed decisions.”
