Friday, October 17, 2014 @ 3:36 AM

Prince George, B.C. – International students at the College of New Caledonia are inviting members of the public to come out and celebrate Diwali this evening.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is a holiday which organizers say honours the victory of knowledge over ignorance and light over darkness.

Event organizer Harman Dandiwal is expecting this year’s event to be bigger and better than ever with over 100 Indian students taking leadership roles in putting on the special evening.

“Annual events like the Diwali party are a great medium to create cultural awareness within the community. It gives the students a chance to show their talent as well as get connected with people.”

The celebration starts at 5:30 pm at the Hart Crown Banquet Hall and tickets are available at CNC’s International Education Office, the Student’s Union or at Dana Mandi Restaurant.

It includes food, performances and dancing.
