Ottawa, Ontario – The Roly McLenahan Torch has been lit and will soon be on its way back to B.C. and Prince George.
The torch will be part of a special event scheduled for tomorrow at the B.C. Legislature in Victoria. It will then visit three B.C. communities which had previously hosted Canada Games before arriving in Prince George for the celebration to mark the 100 day countdown to the start of the 2015 Winter Games.
“Lighting the Canada Games Roly McLenahan Torch officially kicks off the 2015 Canada Winter Games Torch Relay,” says Stuart Ballantyne, 2015 Canada Winter Games CEO.
The torch relay will ‘illuminate the north’ as it crosses the province, with special celebration stops in Ft. St. John, Terrace and Quesnel.
At today’s ceremony at the Centennial flame, Governor General David Johnston proclaimed 2015, the Year of Sport in Canada.
Federal Minister of Sport, Bal Gosal noted 2015 will provide 12 months of special sporting events ” In 2015, Canadians from across the country will take part in a year-long national celebration of sport, including the 25th Canada Games. With the Torch lighting today, excitement continues to build for the Prince George 2015 Canada Winter Games, where we look forward to seeing our next generation of talented athletes and their coaches share in the spirit of competition and sport excellence.”

Well Sherry Green, there you go. I hope you had a nice glance at Parliament while you were in Ottawa today. Thankfully, you’ll never get a chance to operate in a federal capacity inside that building — especially with the mess you have created municipally in Prince George. Don’t worry though, I think Wendy’s is hiring…talk to Mr. Bell and I’m sure he can get a position.
Officially yours,

Are we supposed to be excited for the torch now? Imagine if they took an ounce of passion for these sporting events, and put it towards healthcare and education?
2/3 of our tax dollars already go to health and education.
