Prince George, B.C.  – Cariboo-Prince George-Conservative MP Dick Harris has reacted to this mornings shooting on Parliament Hill.

Harris is in Ottawa today but luckily for him was home with the flu but despite that says his colleagues have been updating him on the situation as it unfolds.

“Yes indeed there was a soldier shot at the War Memorial and there were shots fired inside the Centre Block where all of the caucuses are meeting.”

Harris says Parliament Hill is on lockdown but notes Prime Minister Stephen Harper is safe along with the rest of his colleagues.

He expects “Canadians will be outraged at this event” and notes the world is “not just faraway places anymore – it’s a neighbourhood that can be reached” by anyone.

The incident comes just two days after two Canadian soldiers were run over and one killed in Quebec by a man with jihadist sympathies.
