Police Update on Ottawa Shooting Soon
Prince George, B.C.- A shock wave is rolling across the country as news of this morning’s events in Ottawa spreads.
The RCMP in Ottawa are to hold a news conference moments from now to update the situation.
A Canadian soldier, said to be a reservist from Hamilton, was shot at the War Memorial In Ottawa, and has since died. Latest information indicates 4 other people have been taken to hospital. Police now say no incident occurred near the Rideau Centre contrary to early reports.
At least one gunman has been shot dead by security within the Parliament buildings, and security forces are not saying if they are looking for others, saying only at this point that “this is an ongoing situation.”
This is the second attack in Canada this week, as on Monday, a Canadian soldier was killed when he and a colleague were run down near a mall in Saint –Jean-Sur Richelieu Quebec, by a car driven by a man RCMP say was on the “watch list”. That incident has been called an act of terror.

- Prime Minister cancels planned event in Toronto
- Maple Leafs-Senators game cancelled
Britain’s Prime Minster, David Cameron has offered this reaction to news of the attack:
“I’m appalled by today’s attack in Ottawa, I offer my full support to Prime Minister Harper ad the Canadian people as they deal with this incident”
A number of embassies in downtown Ottawa are locked down.
