Have a Spooktacular Time
Prince George, B.C.- The ghosts and goblins will be on the move tonight as the annual trick or treating event gets underway.
As always, there are some safety tips from the RCMP which are aimed at making this a fun and safe event for everyone.
Trick or Treaters should be reminded to have a buddy with them, never go alone. Only go to homes where the lights are turned on and never eat treats until an adult has inspected them to make sure there are no nasty surprises.
The days are shorter, and that means costumes should have some reflective quality to make sure children can be seen. It is also very important the child can see where they are going, so masks that restrict vision should be avoided. Trick or treaters are also reminded not to criss-cross streets or run out from between parked vehicles. Walk on the side of the road, or the sidewalk wherever possible.
Drivers are reminded to take it slow, stay alert and be prepared to react because the trick or treaters could pop up when you least expect it.
For homeowners who are taking part in Halloween, keep your lights on and the walkway clear of debris to avoid trip hazards.
“Because Halloween is on a Friday night this year we expect we will be busy” says Prince George RCMP spokesperson Corporal Craig Douglass. “We will be out in full force.”
As for the weather for this evening, Environment Canada is calling for a mainly cloudy evening, and chilly temperatures as the high of the day will be 6 degrees, slipping down to 2 degrees overnight.
