Advance Poll Voting Begins This Week

Prince George, B.C. – Notification is going out to voters that the first of the advance polls for the November 15th municipal election will be held this coming Wednesday, November 5th.

To be eligible to vote, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day;
  • a Canadian citizen;
  • a resident of British Columbia for at least six months
  • living, or own property, in the jurisdiction where you intend to vote for at least 30 days
  • not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in a local election or be otherwise disqualified by law.

Eligible voters do not need to be registered to participate in advance voting. Two pieces of identification are required, showing who the individual is and where they live – one piece of identification must include a signature.

For Prince George,  qualified electors can vote from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following voting locations:

  • City Hall  on  Wednesday November  5th and Wednesday November 12th which are both advance voting days
  • UNBC Doug Little Lounge –  Thursday, November 13th

For Regional District Fraser Fort George voters, advance voting is set for  Wednesday the 5th , Wednesday the 12th  and a special  opportunity on the 15th.

  • On the 5th,  , Regional District voters can cast advance ballots at the Regional District of Fraser Fort George office on George Street,  while those in Area H can cast ballots at the  Village of Valemount office or the Village of McBride  office. Voting can be done from 8 am to 8 pm.
  • On the 12th,  Regional District Voters can  cast ballots at the Regional District Office on George Street from 8 am to 8 pm.
  • The special  vote opportunity  on the 15th  is for  those who are eligible voters for the Regional District and are  patients at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. , McBride Hospital, or Beaverview Lodge in McBride. Voting for these patients will take place as follows:

    11 am to 2 pm University Hospital of Northern BC

    2:30 pm to 3pm at McBride and District Hospital

    3:05 – 3:35 at Beaverview Lodge McBride

General Voting day for the Municipality and the Regional District is the 15th. Details  on voting locations will be printed on 250News closer to the actual day.
