Longueuil, Que. – A full military funeral service is being held today for a Canadian soldier who died after being run down by a car driven by a man with extremist beliefs.
Warrant officer 53-year-old Patrice Vincent (right) was intentionally hit by a car in a shopping mall parking lot in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, near Montreal, on October 20th. Another soldier was injured in the attack by Martin Couture-Rouleau. He was shot and killed by police.
That attack happened two days before reserve Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot and killed while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. The attacker in that incident, Michael Zehaf Bibeau, was killed in a hail of bullets inside the Parliamentary Buildings.
