Prince George, B.C. – Council has approved  increasing the fees for some of the services provided by the RCMP.

Fees for mechanical inspection of vehicles  will be boosted to recover the full cost of the inspection. Currently the fee is $110, but the actual cost of such inspections is  in the $200 range.

Copies  of other police information  will  be boosted from the current $10 to $62  to match the amount charged for criminal record checks.

The increases, to take effect January 1, 2015,  will  add another $47 thousand dollars in revenue to the  city.

The increases  mostly impact requests from  ICBC and lawyers acting for  clients involved in traffic crashes.
