Prince George, B.C. – The Railway & Forestry Museum broke ground today on a new display pavilion.
Executive Director Ranjit Gill says once complete it will house between six and 10 rail cars and make the museum more accessible for seniors.
She says it will also go a long ways in helping preserve their most famous rail car, the Nechako.
“It was in Vancouver for Expo 86. Princess Diana and Prince Charles had tea in it but the roof keeps leaking. It’s quite expensive to fix the roof so this is a way to mitigate that by having it covered.”
Gill says work on the pavilion has already begun and notes they’ll be building it in stages.
She is hopeful it will be completed by next year.
