New Plaza Unveiled
Prince George, B.C.- The Civic Centre Plaza is no more. As of 4:30 on November 4th, it is now, officially, the Canada Games Plaza.
The newly renovated and landscaped site will be home to the medal presentations during the 2015 Canada Winter Games. It will also be the focal point for entertainment during the two week event.
The renovations to the plaza, cost $900 thousand dollars. The changes include new interlocking brick pathways, river rock to signify the two rivers in Prince George pathway lighting and historical images on pillars which celebrate the history of Prince George.
The four pillars that support the plaza clock are wrapped with the story of the Lheidli T’enneh with images of the Frog, Beaver and Grouse clans as well as the caribou which played an important role in the history of the First Nation.
