Large Crowds Expected for Remembrance Day Ceremonies

Sunday, November 9, 2014 @ 3:29 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George legion is expecting larger than usual crowds at this year’s Remembrance Day ceremonies.

“I think we kind of are. We were very surprised at the turnout for the vigil last month (in remembrance of slain soldiers Corporal Nathan Cirillo & Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent). We’ve had a lot of calls and talk about it. People are pretty upset about what happened,” says Zone Commander John Scott. flanders_field(1)

“It made people realize that they’re 24 hour a day veterans. They are targets all the time and that’s unfortunate but that’s part of the business.”

He says things get started at the Civic Centre at 9:15 am Tuesday which will be followed by a ceremony which will include a list of speakers.

Scott says the march to the Cenotaph begins at 10:45 am where everyone will observe two minutes of silence at 11:00 am.

He says that will be followed by hot dogs and hot chocolate for kids at the Civic Centre and an open house at the legion.

I hope that Scott will find a place for the veterans instead of just shoving them in with the club members. As a veteran In quit going on the parade it was all about the Legion that is mostly about a watering hole for those that enjoy a drink.
Cheers

Just so you know what was printed in the Free Press about gathering at the Connaught Youth Centre is incorrect that was from last year
