Krause Seeks 6th Term

Monday, November 10, 2014 @ 9:59 AM

IMG_1616[1]Prince George, B.C.- Murry Krause says, if elected, he would like to have a  conversation on delegated authority, “The key is, we were elected to represent the community, and there are key things we should know about  before the  public does.”

Krause is hoping to be  re-elected  to Council.

Recently,  Councillors  were blind sided when they heard of eleven job cuts at the City,  Councillors first heard  about the cuts when they were contacted by members of the media.

He says the Code of Conduct is one  issue that could be  reviewed “Nothing is etched in stone.”  He also says there was much more conversation  going on than the public was aware of “I don’t think all conversations have to be  on the front page of the paper.”

He says  the  council “fighting” didn’t need to be done in public,  but adds “We heard loud and clear from  members of  the public  on some issues,  and we said, we made a mistake, and we changed it.”  One of the issues was  the  off street  parking rate  increases which were very  high, and when the public complained council  rolled back the  hikes.

Krause says  if he were to rate  the level of transparency at City Hall,  he would give it a 5 out of ten.

He  says he will not support the storm water utility. “I think it’s really important to acknowledge, that when you look at utilities and what we have asked people to pay, we really need to slow that down.”  He says it’s  important for the City to  make people understand what they are paying for  on that utility bill  and why the rates are what they are.

Krause says there are some who  like the campaign  plan  of one of the mayoral candidates to grow the city to 100 thousand,  he says he has heard from  many residents to keep the city at it’s current population level “So  you have to  be somewhere  in the middle .”

“My commitment to doing this job is to be honest, be ethical, try to work things out” he says it’s all about relationships.

So Mr Krause feels, lets do something meaningful where the issues are at, you should have said transferred. I guess that explains why we are getting the no income housing in our area of the city, the Miller,Connaught, VLA. Does that mean Mr. Krause feels we should have a life sentence of having to deal with the Cities problems in our areas , we don’t want hookers strolling our streets and Johns driving around looking for them , we don’t want a needle van driving around delivering needles and condoms with no clean up plan. We all want safe healthy neighbourhoods. We want someone on Council that will fight for us and not throw us under the BUS as that is what has been happening. Ours is a beautiful area of the City with lots of Seniors and young families and the area is being destroyed just like the downtown.

Time for Murray to take a break from civic politics!!

Both the provincial and federal governments must be forced to get involved in dealing with the problems that are the main concern of Mr. Krause, in my opinion. Many social problems are the result not of local political policies, but are deeply rooted in decisions promoted and implemented in Victoria and Ottawa. We must not think that it is our responsibility to always and as a matter of fact to pick up the pieces.

Mr. Krause is to be applauded for his caring attitude, though.

Krause.. We know what we are paying for.. A bloated city hall with over paid people incompetent people, over paid council as well..

Hey what about the debt load of the city. But you added another 42 million in a glitzy cop shop.
Cheers

With all the extra committee work and public appearances, our Councillors are not being overpaid.
And Retired 02, either move back to Prince George, or keep your opinions to yourself.

Mr.Krause is to be applauded for his caring attitude, the problem is he focused on one thing, and he is well paid for it. I wonder if he will retire in P.G. or take his money and run.

The opening of Munoz brings up a question, during the first go around of the Haldi Road rehab vote Krause voted no through all the votes and a year later during the second go around he voted the opposite. Did something new come to light or did they “get to him” so to speak?

I know a few people moved from the area because of who they worked for

Bitter – what business is it of ours if he retires in PG or not?

Ibear – Do you know something we don’t? my point is people use P.G. as a stepping stone, make their money here and leave, like Retired O2 I like his comments.

This guy makes me wonder if he represents all of PG or just the minority.
he has no nothing but watch our taxes go up and lifestyle go down.

Damm. timed out. ah heck not worth typing it all in again.

Hartly 2: Try typing it in word or wordpad, then you can copy it and paste it in your comment. No more timeouts!

In all fairness to Murry Krause, he has a heart for the homeless, the hard done by, those whose lives have been impacted by drugs, the neglected, those who are struggling with injustice etc. There is nothing wrong with someone willing to go to bat and get involved in representing all of these folks. And I applaude him for his efforts and heart to serve in this capacity.

However, our current situation downtown is the consequence of this effort. We can’t turn downtown PG into the Eastside of Vancouver and expect different results.

So, with all due respect for Murry Krause, I have to ask myself if I support the status quo, or if I want different results? I want different results!

Lynn Hall has been part of the status quo as well as a good number of the emcumbents. So, the decision is not difficult for me. I am willing to support change, ut not at the expense of others who pay the bills.

Thanks for the tip Give more!

Sorry but I think it is time that Mr. Krause finds something else to do.
He has been a part of the city council for too long, time for some new people with new ideas.
