Mixed News on Housing Starts in P.G.
Prince George, B.C.- Canada Mortgage and Housing says there were 16 single family homes started in Prince George in October, That’s more than double the 6 starts in the same month a year ago.
The stats also show there were 7 multiple family home starts in the city last month, up one from October of 2013.
In all, the overall housing starts for Prince George in October were 23, nearly double the 12 starts recorded in October of last year.
The year to date stats are not as positive though.
The January to end of October starts this year for single family dwellings sits at 104, up just five from the same period a year ago and . The number of multiple starts is down significantly from the same period in 2013 and that has had an impact on the overall total.
This year, there were just 14 multiple family units started from January to end of October and 7 of those started in October. Last year, the same ten month period saw 67 such units started.
So the final total stands at 118 housing starts in Prince George from January to end of October this year, compared to 166 starts in the same period in 2013.
