Zurowski Casts Ballot
Wednesday, November 12, 2014 @ 11:00 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George mayoral candidate Don Zurowski cast his vote this morning at City Hall.
Zurowski is competing with Lyn Hall for the mayor’s chair after incumbent Mayor Shari Green decided not to run for re-election earlier this year.
Hall is expected to vote Saturday morning at Malaspina Elementary.
Today’s advance poll runs until 8 pm tonight. There’s another one scheduled for tomorrow at UNBC.

I think that we can safely assume that he has one (1) vote.
Make that two!
I always thought it was against the Elections Act to take pictures inside a voting station.
Gee Don, hope you voted for Hall, then you’d be with the voter majority LOL
Make that 3. Don has my vote too. Check out Hall’s record as chair when he was with the school board Grizzly … you might change your mind.
Just in, Ziroski got a vote, and you heard it first from 250 news, lol
Just voted for Don!
Grizzly – Thought you weren’t voting for anyone.
Lyn Hall has a Sunday morning breakfast meeting with the sucessful council candidates and will speak with them in order to to form a concensus before he decides who he is going to vote for in the mayoral race. Only after heading to the polling station after the meeting does he see the flaw in his plan.
Wonder if mayor elect Zurowski will be invited for bacon and eggs.
Who are “the successful council candidates” ?
Voted for Don too;)
sparrow- best comment I’ve seen in a while. Nicely done!
I watched the mayoral debate from UNBC, and because of one thing in particular that Don said, I will be voting for him. He said “we need a CEO mayor with a vision and the fortitude to carry on that vision”. I may be paraphrasing it but this is what the gist of it was. It relates exactly to the company that I work for. Back in 1994 our company was nearly bankrupt. We had a person with a vision and he thankfully was made the president of our company at that time. It was a private company owned by two families. By the time they were ready to retire in 2007 they sold the company for $84 million. That is what you can do if you follow your instincts and don’t waver from your dreams. You can take advise or suggestions from people as my boss has done, but he was the main driver behind it.
By the way, I have never met Don, and am not a family member! I just like his attitude.
I think you would be right, if we were voting for city manager. I think Don would be brilliant at it. Unfortunately we are looking for a Mayor which is a Chairman of the Board, very different roles. Having said that I would be supportive of Don as Mayor, I just believe Lyn would be a better Mayor.
Best of luck to both candidates.
I think both candidates are similar, but with different approaches. I think Don will have more leadership with less transparency, while Lyn Hall will be more collaborative (some would say wishy washy) and more transparent.
I don’t think either candidate has what it takes to tackle the big issues facing the City. To a large extent, it will be status quo for four years.
who cares what you think JB.. You’re old news
Apparently 8, you cared enough to respond. Thanks!
The truth is a mayor doesnt know a heck of a lot more than the council members, he can
be a tie breaker. This is why we need a mayor with lots of business experience.
I wish there were more people running for mayor.
I watched the Mayoral debate yesterday evening, I just can’t buy into the idea by Lynn Hall moving around council meetings to different parts of the City. It just doesn’t make any sense. Didn’t we just spend a whole lot of cash on council chambers upgrading electronic systems etc.. and Lynn wants to moth ball that? Really? Also, as I listened to the answers I actually felt that Don Zurowski had a handle on city issues and he has been away from council 6 years or so. While Lynn Hall is fresh off council and almost sounded clueless. His only resource was his time on the school board, yikes! This is for Mayor of Prince George, not the school board. Zurowski has a vision, it’s time we had a Mayor again with this attribute. Yes his vision 100,000 may sound as a great challenge, which he even admitted, but at least he is on the right train of thinking, even Hall appeared to agree with Zurowski. I have always voted for Hall in the past, council and school board, but he isn’t the right fit for Mayor, Zurowski has my vote too.
I think we need a mayor who will tell Administration what to do and how to do it.The tails been wagging the dog for 8 years. That’s why I’m voting for Lynn Hall.
Look up the Tyee News, and then put Zurowski in the search. This will give you an Oct 14/14 article on the BC Place Stadium, run by PAVCo.
Seems the project is some $80 Million over budget. Neither the CEO, Board Chairman, or Governance, Finance and Audit Committee Chair, Don Zurowski, would return calls to answer questions about the over run.
The article mentions that Zurowski is running for Mayor in Prince George.
Just sayin.
Gasp….Palopu, you’re not saying that BC Liberal insiders act just like BC Liberals, are you ? ;-)
If anyone is on the fence, the fact that one of our more prolific posters who hates change more than life itself and wishes we still used a horse and buggy, is pushing for Hall should tell you enough.
If it looks like progress we gotta fight it… Or so I’ve heard.
Clean sweep – vote Zorowski
Interceptor,. You should learn to spell, or you might end up voting for the wrong person.
If your referring to me in your post, then it behooves me to tell you that I have been a proponent of change for years, and years. The change I seek is to try and stop people (like you) from blindly following less than stellar leaders.
You may remember (or maybe not) the old saying. ** There are none so blind as those who will not see**,. Methinks that saying was made for, and applies to you.
A privilege today to vote and another cast for Don Zurowski! Hard time picking councillors so only voted for a few.
Great to see the bantering with good humor and respect.
Palopu, your quote made me smile so I leave one for you all as well:
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits. Albert Einstein
Zena: Don Zurowski went $80 Million over budget. Neither the CEO, Board Chairman, or Governance, Finance and Audit Committee Chair, Don Zurowski, would return calls to answer questions about the over run.
Is this the type of mayor you think is a healthy change? Why does not one Zurowski supporter want to address this?
Zena: you seem like a smart person what is your opinion on this huge mismanagement of BC tax payers money.
Zena thanks for picking up on the tongue in cheek humour – many on this site fail to do that. I actually respect P’s opinion a lot of the time ;)
As for the Tyee – I wouldn’t expect anyone to return calls to the National Enquirer either… Its about as credible a “news” source.
Palupo and Happy13 I didn’t know Zurowski built the BC Place roof… Wait didn’t PCL build the roof? Didn’t see Hall bat an eyelash when 4th ave came in double the budget….
