The Voters Turned Their Attention To The Two

Sunday, November 16, 2014 @ 3:45 AM

It was a message being sent by the voters of Prince George, we want more open and accountable information flowing from city hall , we also don’t want , what we see as a clique at city hall.

The result?   Cameron Stolz and Dave Wilbur paid the price although the voters really wanted to have the final say in Shari Green’s political future. They didn’t get the chance when she decided not to seek re election and they turned their attention to what  they believed were her two lieutenants .

While there was not a substantial increase in the voting, it never the less was a feeling of the community.

Lyn Hall was quick to say that things will be changing and the fifth floor will become more open and accessible . There are a number of returning councillors who have felt they were painted off of the council table for the past three years because they were not onside with the Mayor’s thinking and they will lead the charge for change.

The citizens  have elected a new bunch, a number of them are not afraid to take their shoe off and bang it on the desk. That is good for this city.

In the Mayor’s race,  you could just see the support slipping away as Don Zurowski tried to sell the idea of growing the city to 100,000 people. It was a poor choice of a campaign  slogan and it sounded an awful lot like that savings of up to 10% in every department used by Green in her campaign. Add to that a full page ad in which many of  Zurowski’s supporters were the same ones who supported Green , and that only further added to his woes.

Hall on the other hand was able to show the voters that he didn’t like what was going on at the Hall, but had been hand tied in trying to fix it. He now has the power to move and the voters will be looking for some quick results.

The politics continue  as  the federal nomination looms in the back ground of this region and make no mistake,  there are a lot of memberships being taken out with an attitude of “anyone but Green” written all over them.

We have turned a new page  in local politics, but make no mistake the party is not yet over.

I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.

I am not the least surprised to see Mr Stolz be ousted…
he was one fantastic yes man and Mayorial parrot.
He can now go back to selling toys and hopefully he will run that better than he tried to run city hall.

On the mayor front I wish we had been given a third choice.

Having said that it is now time for those who spouted political words to put up….. or you will probably not be around for another 4 years.

Good luck all and congratulations to those who were sucessful in this election.

To the citizens of PG.
Thanks to those who made the effort to get out and express your choice of council and trustees. The winners from the tallied results, are candidates that you “the taxpaying citizen of Prince George” have elected to run your city. The results don’t lie, these are the people that the citizens want in power. It appears that there we a little over 20,000 ballets counted, so the counting of these ballets only, will be the deciding factor. The rest of you who were to lax to express your opinion yesterday have no say, as you day of self expression has passed. I live outside the city and could only vote for the trustees and I did my duty.

I congratulate all the winners and I think that the city will have a new approach going forward. YES the people who did vote, sure made it clear that they were unhappy with the previous Sherry Green and her army’s dictatorship. Lord know what will happen if she gets into Federal politics? I hope it’s not in our area.

Sheri is **hell bent** to get the Conservative nomination for Prince George, Cariboo. She seems oblivious to the fact that she is not wanted in politics in this area. If she should get the nomination, she will then have to convince people to vote for her. That will be one hell of a tough job.

I know a number of **hard line** Conservatives, who will not vote for her if she runs in the next Federal election. So, is all this work going to be for nothing?? Seems she (like Stolz) cannot read the writing on the wall. Its time for Sheri to bow out, not buy in.

I know both Wilbur and Stolz did not get my vote for the exact reason Ben discussed. And, he is right, I bought into a conservative membership simply to vote against Green.

tough on these two veteran councilors. Both are smart but were seen to be too tight with sheri. Last election green, stolz and a few of their back rook friends had the knifes out and managed to stick it to rodgers and seize power but now the tide has changed. Though it is interesting to see who paid the price, stolz loses a position he loved, wilbur gets caught in the shrapnel for what people perceived was collaboration and green sails smoothly away likely to take a well paid position in ottawa. Put the fluoride back in the water – we might need the medication.
