Lyn Hall Says His Council Will Re-connect With Community
Prince George, B.C. – The new mayor of the City of Prince George says his victory in Saturday’s civic election was the result of the citizens sending a clear message.
Lyn Hall says “the message is that they want to see council being more inclusive and more of a re-connection to the community. They want to see a fiscal plan that will take care of infrastructure, and that’s the message that we were delivering through this entire campaign. We stuck to that message even at times where we were being criticized. But we stuck to it and I think it’s paid off.”
As far as the issue of leadership style is concerned, Hall says “my style of leadership is an inclusive style where I will utilize the strength and knowledge of those folks around the table and go to the community. We don’t have all the answers and I think that was the other message that we went to them: you’re going to be part of this.”
Hall says right from the outset of his leadership “we’re going to look at establishing that committee structure that was so important to me in the platform I delivered and utilizing the councilors’ strengths, that’s really important.” He says with the new council “we’ll start to talk as a group about where they would like to serve the city with respect to these committees. And I know they want me to, I heard that over the campaign, (would-be) councilors talking about we need to re-connect, be more inclusive. So that’s the first order of business.”
The election results will be declared official by Chief Election Officer Walter Babicz by 4pm November 19th. The inaugural meeting of the new council for the City of Prince George will be held on December 1st.

Whats that noise??
Oh, well thats just the big ‘sigh of relief’ from City Employees.
Time to move forward, congrats Lynn
How much is CUPE’s support for Hall going to cost me as a taxpayer next set of negotiations with an already over paid under worked workforce. Hey Hall, it’s only our hard earned dollars, feel free to throw lots more at your problems like a poorly thought out and managed snow removal plan. How many people are we paying that are just sitting around all day waiting for it to snow?
I saw Jillian Merrick on CKPG last night saying her top priorities would be something about removing breed specific wording in the dangerous dog bylaw and working towards removing restrictions of people having chickens in their backyards. It will be a fun four years!

Hall has made his living sucking on the taxpayer’s teat. It’s going to cost us big time.
But hey! We might be able to feed ourselves with our backyard chickens so all is not lost.
LOL…..excellent plank in an election platform…”a chicken in every backyard”. ;D
The proof (as always) is in the pudding. Making inane statements about how the City will be run one day after the election, can at best be described as a sign of poor losers. Suck it up boy/girls. You lost,.
Speaking of losers seems to me they are the ones that we will not have to put up with for the next four years.
All I can say is that the table is set for a good working Council and Administration for the next four years. Hopefully they wont screw up,.
I recall butchering chickens on Alward St. years ago. Wish everyone had chickens. The eggs you get from the store are pretty sad.
Okay….I’ll admit it. I voted for the hippy chic.
Talk about inane comments. The fact of the matter is that we now have a union friendly Mayor and council. How that will play out remains to be seen.
JohnnyBelt, how that will play out remains to be seen??
Unfortunately you and I both know exactly how that will play out! Higher wages for our bloated, overpaid and underworked municipal workforce, regular hug sessions at City Hall and a complete lack of intestinal fortitude required to do the job that must be done and should have been done years ago!
But it’s pretty darn hard to run a city properly when you are more focussed on singing the latest version of Kumbaya!

I’m betting that a giant chasm will start opening up at the intersection of 16/97 and that it will slowly swallow the entire city.
Either that or it’s really irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

B-I-N-G-O!
NMG: “Either that or it’s really irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.”
Maybe. We’ll see in terms of City staffing, wages and benefits and at the next CUPE contract negotiation. I personally think there will be some residual effect.
Well said Dragonmaster
I didn’t know that Jillian Merrick was in favour of allowing chickens in the back yard. I agree with her. It isn’t the most important issue confronting the city, but Council has to deal with a variety of little things too.
I can’t believe people voted for someone who wants chickens in everyone’s back yard.
Haven’t heard anyone talking bout the results of the advance polls… >????
Were they counted last night??
welll when put on the spot last night bout issues talked about, thats probably first thing that came to her mind.. She was overwhelmed by actually getting in
Hey Carpenter:
Haven’t you heard? Fresh chemical free chicken and egg are good for yuh, just like moose tongue or deer.LOL
It is quite apparent that Jillian has never smelt chicken manure.

I doubt she wants them in EVERYONE’S backyard, but just to make it an option for those who do want it. ;)

She was probably thinking of the new employees the council can hire to to the pens clean and the chicken feed -more $$ to her union’s local.
Should read – keep the pens clean…
