Valemount, B.C.-  A 41 year old  Valemount male has turned himself over to police  following an assault in that community early Monday morning.

RCMP say they were called a  residence in the 1000 block of 14th Avenue in Valemount  shortly after midnight  Monday morning.  When they arrived,  they  found a 61 year old woman who had been assaulted.  The suspect  was not  at the scene.

The woman was  taken to  hospital for treatment  of non life threatening injuries.

On the afternoon of Monday  the 17th,  a suspect  arrived at the local RCMP detachment to turn himself in.

The 41 year old male  has been remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
