Two RCMP Officers in Region Recognized for Meritorious Service
Prince George, B.C. – An RCMP Corporal with the Prince George Police Dog Service, and a Corporal from the Burns Lake detachment, are among officers in B.C. who have been recognized for either valour, or meritorious service.
The two were among 87 outstanding officers recognized last evening at B.C.’s 34th annual Police Honours Night.
Corporal Christopher Ivany and Corporal Ryan Drohomereski were recognized for meritorious service as they worked together to rescue of a suicidal, hypothermic man who was near death.
Both have since moved on in their careers, Cpl. Ivany is now with the Salmon Arm Detachment, and Cpl. Drohomereski has since transferred to the Prince Albert Dog Service unit in Saskatchewan.
In all, 19 officers received the award of valour, the highest award for a police officer in B.C.
Sixty-eight police officers (including Ivany and Drohomereski) were awarded meritorious service honours. This recognizes exemplary performance that exceeds expectations and enhances the public image of police officers.
