Prince George, B.C. – Renovations to Sam Ketcham Pool in Williams Lake are one step closer to reality.

This after sixty-eight percent of voters in the region voted in favour of the Cariboo Regional District borrowing up to $10 million over 20 years for renovations and upgrades to the pool during last weekend’s referendum.

The remainder of the cost of the approximately $11.3 million project will need to be made up from grants, fundraising and capital reserves.

Part of that cost will be picked up by timber giant West Fraser who announced a commitment of $500,000 last month.

The renovated pool area of the complex will be renamed “West Fraser Aquatic Centre and Sam Ketcham Pool.”

No word yet on when the renovations will begin.
