Frizzell Lobbies MP’s in Ottawa, Helps Launch New Program

Prince George, B.C. – It was a productive week in Ottawa for Prince George city councillor Garth Frizzell.

He was there as a member of the board of directors for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities during the organization’s annual Advocacy Days.

Frizzell says it gave members the chance to meet with between 100 to 150 parliamentarians from all parties as they prepare their election platforms for the upcoming federal election.

He says it allowed them to express that continued partnership is necessary “if we are to address the issues facing our families and communities, such as the urgent need to improve local infrastructure and affordable housing.”

And speaking of communities Frizzell says FCM also launched its “Hometown Proud Campaign.”

He says the goal of the initiative is to connect citizens directly to the parties election platforms.

“We’re getting citizens to speak out about what makes them proud to be in their communities while at the same time connecting them to their MP`s for (election) platform development.”

Residents can take part by going to hometownproud.fcm.ca. Once there Frizzell encourages people to share the things that make them feel proud to live in Prince George.

He says it’s similar to the Facebook page, Hell Yeah Prince George, only on a larger scale.

“Imagine a community of 75,000 people like ours and you’ve already got 20,000 people signed up where people are talking positively. It’s goal is similar to what Hell Yeah PG is but on a larger scale.”

Our needs? or his backers needs? Isn’t that our MLA’s job?

Garth Frizzell works hard for this community! We are well represented, keep up the great work, Councillor!

In the end I support anyone who is looking out for our region and our city. Garth was working within his mandate but even if he was not, I would support the effort.

We need people who look out for our region not people who say “it is not my job”. Just sayin, bcracer we have had too many of those.

Great job Garth for at least bringing recognition to our region.

Heck, he would have been with Sherry green perhaps. In the last few years, anytime i was at the airport, I was always amazed how many council member were traveling.
I do not believe for a second, that they need to travel as much as they do when all our issues are right here at home. A counciler is a counciler, not a travelling politician. Everyone wants to feel important. Maybe if you hang out with the big dogs, you become a big dog.

I suppose, if you keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting things to change. You just might find they do not.

We have been doing the same thing over and over but nothing is changing. Hmmm…. Maybe we should try something different.

It may come as a surprise to some people, but we already have Two (2) Members of Parliament, and Two (3) MLA’s who are in Government and represent our Region.

What are these highly paid people doing for us????? Are we to believe that a City Councilor will get more done for the Region than those elected representatives?? If so then why do we have them. Perhaps Councilors should run the whole Country.

For some of you commenters, it might be worth noting that Mr. Frizzell was in Ottawa acting in his capacity with the F.C.M, not directly for PG.
It is only natural that he would take the opportunity to promote this region, while there.
metalman.

“He says it’s similar to the Facebook page, Hell Yeah Prince George, only on a larger scale.”

That’s probably not a good thing. Taking all that’s considered “negative” and ignoring it -or worse, sweeping it under the rug- is hardly conducive to fixing the issues.

Frizz has been more in the news than ever since election – didn’t hear from him for 3 years? Yes the city has 3MLAs and 2 MPs so what is he talking about .. maybe he wants to run for a MP’s position!!!

Interesting to see Councillor Frizzell go to the length he does for his community but yet has no time to answer questions to his constituents by email as he tends to ignore those questions .

Somehow I think that this was not money well spent , by Garth . Who’s ever money it was .

We need Garth to focus on bringing in taxpaying businesses to our great city and that in tail will give our city a greater tax base for our citizens and greater life style in our fine city .
