Icy Roads Causing Numerous Accidents
Sunday, November 23, 2014 @ 9:08 PM
Prince George- Police say the roads, and highways, in the district are treacherous as a result of the freezing road conditions resulting in a number of accidents in the city and area.
One vehicle, towing a trailer, hit the ditch near Salmon Valley, and several accidents have occurred in the city, along with a number of vehicles ending up in the ditch.
The RCMP advise you to either slow down, or take your time tonight, because of the road conditions.

The funny thing is, sand and salt would help prevent these crashes if it were put upon our streets.
Good tips: “either slow down or take your time. ..”
Drove to PG from Mckenzie today, the road north of Bear Lake was heavily sanded and no accidents, south of Bear Lake there was 3 accidents and very little if any sand. What is the difference?
GRANULAR GRIPTION
I do remember last winter there was not much sanding done either….hope we don’t have a repeat of that!!
@ice is gription the opposite of sliptivity? Just came down cowart hill and barely made it over 50km. Be careful out there folks, it’s deceiving.
just got up looked outside on the deck it is a sheet of ice veeeery slippery just happy to be home and not out on the hwy.
Icy roads don’t cause accidents, people not driving to conditions cause accidents!
Slow down and be careful, the life you save may be your own.

So would not driving like an idiot and god knows there’s no shortage of idiots out there.
Get out and practice how to control your vehicle in icy conditions, because up here your going to get 6 months of it. Highways cannot be maintained the roads to summer driving conditions. If you cannot recover from a skid with ease your a danger to everyone on the road and should not be driving in the winter period until you learn drive in the conditions.
I’d be to differ. If you’ve never been in a winter crash you should just shut up. You can be going well below the speed limit and have great winter tires but cars and trucks still end up in the ditch or in a crash. Yes there are complete morons out there but that doesn’t mean it’s me or its you, therefore it’s also the roads because of how they are. You just wait.
I guess I should shut up then, I have never been in a crash in 46 years, and most of those years with baldish all season tires. Nothing makes me happier than seeing young drivers doing donuts in the snow. Get out and practice, heading sideways at a semi truck is not the time to be learning how to recover a vehicle. Or how not to lock up your brakes and slide into someone.
People need to stop blaming everyone and everything else but themselves…
Summer is OVER…
winter has arrived…..
Slow down and drive accordingly…
I am sure this fill fall on deaf ears and those who read it and follow suit probably aready do….
If you’re prone to a panic attack in a critical incident, park it.
You can’t fix stupid.
metalman.
And for those who a formed a nasty habit of pulling in front of people and having them make fancy maneuvers to avoid you. That works ok down south, but not up here in the winter time.
I delivered a load this morning north of town. In four wheel drive with traction control engaged, I did not feel even close to safe out there pulling a trailer. Its that type of snow and temperature that, as soon as a tire rolls over it, its as slick as bare wet ice.
The truck and trailer even slid backwards down a very, very, slight incline.
If you have to be driving, please, just be very careful.
