So sad.
What’s up, Ben? I read a comment earlier. You censored an opinion?
Editor’s note:
An opinion was not censored, an allegation was removed.

Scary thought “wood chipper” hope the person is going to be alright!
To rephrase, did Worksafe BC,make sure that the company has been following all health safety and training requirements under the act??? this is a question that needs to be addressed?
Steph100.
Please actually read the act..If you read “the Act” you would know that the employer, supervisors and(employees to a certain extent) are responsible for ensuring that health and safety systems are in place and are being followed. And this question does not need to be adressed in a public forum at this time so it can be speculated to death..Not to mention the legal implications it has as well. Question for you…If you see something wrong at your workplace do you wait for WCB to come in and ensure that you do something about it? Becasue thats the kind of logic im reading from you..
Anyhow..lets hope that this young worker makes it through this as well as the rest of the people involved.
Studies of serious workplace injuries have shown that the two groups most prone are those who are new to a job and those that have been doing a job for a long time. The former because they don’t know any better and the latter because they think they know better.
Hope things turns out for this young person as chippers are not very forgiving pieces of equipment.
Northman, I know the act very well and all sections pertaining to both responsibility and enforcement, my comment was tailored for a reason. As for the question what world do you live in?
All that matters is the person involved gets fully healed. Anyone who has worked around a wood chipper knows how dangerous they are. Let’s all hope for the best for this young worker
Anyone dealing with Worksafe BC know that organization is reactive and not proactive. Worksafe will investigate an accident, and sight the regulations not being followed whether it be by the employee or employer.
A big part safety is really the individuals responsibility as no one will be more concerned about your own safety than you should yourself.
Well said resident.. Work safe doesn’t prevent the accidents since they cut back so much on inspectors. They now focus on making sure it doesn’t happen again. Proactive attitude towards safety is the only way to do the best at stopping the initial accident and that’s what work safe should focus on.
Good to see the ex posters from the PG Citizen move over to here and voice their opinion on stories, long before the facts come out. Instead of blabbing your mouth and coming to a conclusion, wait to see what really happened.
This sounds very serious and the concern should be for the worker in recovering from this incident. Prayers to the family in this difficult time
