Stepping Into the “Lamb’s Den”

Tuesday, November 25, 2014 @ 11:32 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Would be innovators are making their best sales pitches today.

The “New Venture Mentor’s Panel” is offering one-on-one mentoring for local entrepreneurs in a format similar to the popular TV program the Dragon’s Den.

But as one mentor says it’s much tamer and more closely resembles a “lamb’s den.”

“This is very much like a Dragon’s Den session except these are nice dragons, they are benevolent dragons and our purpose here today is to actually help rather than entertain,” says mentor and Managing Director of Analytics Marketing Ean Jackson.

“The thought is to really make a difference and help the presenters with their businesses. They make a sales pitch on their product or service and explain what they’re trying to accomplish and since we have different areas of expertise we’ll jump in and provide advice, direction and resources.”

Alan Werenko, mentor and Director of GreenAngel Energy, says much of their advice centers around business planning.

“We bring a little gray hair, a little experience which is a result of losing our own money in the past. We’re really trying to help make sure they don’t make the same mistakes.”

The panel is the kickoff to “Prince George Innovation Week” hosted by the Innovation Central Society.

Following today’s mentoring session start up discussions will be held at various venues around town.
