Restaurant Joins Crime Prevention Effort
Prince George, B.C. – A three-way crime-fighting partnership is being formed this weekend with you, the public, taking on the role of the third partner.
The General Manager of the Burger King restaurant in town, Deepak Kumar, contacted the Two Rivers Crime Prevention Society recently to express his desire to do something to support crime prevention in Prince George. Society Director Linda Parker, who is also the co-ordinator of the RCMP’s Community Policing Section, says Kumar’s enthusiasm was welcomed. As a result she says “this weekend one dollar from every meal sold at the Prince George Burger King location will go to the Two Rivers Crime Prevention Society supporting Community Policing Crime Prevention programs and services.”
Parker says Kumar “is very passionate about crime prevention and youth initiatives in particular since a lot of his employees are youth. And we assured him that one of the Community Policing duties is working with youth, and youth at risk. So it’s a good partnership and we’re very excited about the sponsorship and we hope that people in Prince George will support the sponsorship and purchase a meal this weekend at Burger King.”
Asked how money raised will be channeled to youth initiatives Parker says “we have our youth support team and they deal directly with our most vulnerable youth in Prince George. We also have educational programs and services, we go into the high schools and elementary schools and teach the kids about drug and alcohol awareness, social media safety, personal safety and all things crime prevention.”
She says this is a first partnering with Burger King. “It’s new, we hope that it continues, it’s a wonderful opportunity for Community Policing and we really appreciate the support.”
