Snow Clearing Crew Ahead of Schedule

Monday, December 1, 2014 @ 11:16 AM

gradersPrince George, B.C.-  The Streets  Division  for  the City of Prince George, is ahead of schedule when it  comes to

clearing snow under the new policy time limits.

The big snow dump ended   at 1:00 in the morning on Friday.

That started the clock ticking on the 48 hour time frame set  for clearing   all the snow from the  routes designated priority 1 and 2.   So the deadline for that work  was  1:00  am Sunday morning.

Once the priority 1 and 2 routes had been completed,   the policy allows for 72 hours to  finish all residential streets.

That  time frame would mean the crews have  until 1:00 Wednesday morning to  complete the clean up of  residential  streets.

Well,  the crews  expect to  complete  the residential areas  by the  end of night shift tonight,   nearly  48 hours ahead of  the allowable time frame.

My street was done Friday, nice change from last year where didn’t see much for snow removal at all.

I wonder if the fact that cupe has a contract signed and are not playing silly little games like they did last year jas anything to do with it?

The true test will be when we get two big dumps back to back like last December, if they can’t handle the few inches we have had so far it is time to turn in the keys for the plows, loaders and graders:-/

I think the Winter Games has a lot to do with the cleaning, but come February we could be neck deep in snow, and council could be in China.

Give me a break Sparrow, the only one who was playing silly little games was our ex-mayor Shari Green backed up by her drones. All in an attempt to provide talking points for her federal bid. All staged on the backs of local tax payers to make her look more inviting in the nomination race and an attempt to hide the pathetic job she’s done as a one term mayor!

Veritas…you may be right..Green and Council may have been playing games…but it wasn’t any of them that I saw driving snow removal equipment up and down first avenue in Heritage with the blade up!
So perhaps there was a little bit of game playing from both sides.
So far this year it has been awesome. My street was plowed yesterday as was much of the Heritage area

I had graders scrapping pavement last year on my street. Wish I had vidioed it. It was reported that several union people involved with that fiasco are not involved now. We still don’t know what happened last year but there is lots of blame to spread around. Bottom line is taxpayers will not be held hostage when unions and managment play games that effect our safety.

I had two graders make three passes on both sides of the street in my area last year.

If that’s not playing games I don’t know what the H is.

I have a buddy who works for the city who was real happy at getting a full shift at double pay. They must be putting people on overtime.

Palopu….so these grader operators, they weren’t trying to cut ice or wing back the banks ? They were just being vindictive CUPE members burning off the cutting edges on your street ? Does Shari Green live on your street ? (lol..)
