Another week  is coming to a close.

That means it’s time to open  the flood gates for  your thoughts on issues that  matter to you.

It is time for the Friday Free For All.

You  pick the topic, but please,  obey our three simple rules:

Keep it clean

Keep it legal

No bullying

Anyone been to a Cougars game lately? Pretty tough to win when you are outplayed, outworked, and out battled all night long. The Cougars couldn’t string 3 passes together, and when they did manage to get a pass through it was in the player’s skates!
It’s not a wonder that these guys are the worst penalty killing team in the league..so weak on the puck with their sticks that they couldn’t clear the zone!
And that line change? How do you do a complete line change with the puck at the offensive blueline? Quick turnover and it was a 4 on 1 !
I can see that there is talent in these kids, but honestly can’t see a system in place, and their conditioning is atrocious! There is no way that having been at home for 10 days during which they played only one game they should have been outworked by a team that’s in the midst of a long road trip!
Ownership has done a lot of good things on the management and game experience front, but perhaps they should have gone out and hired a real qualified GM, and a real qualified coach!

Does anyone know what the flu vaccine or mask wearing policy is at the hospital, or were I can fined it to read?

Walter199: Its either or. But they tell us that hand washing is more important, so make sure you wash your hands immediately upon entering the hospital and again when you leave.
Good morning! I see its no degrees out this morning, should be a good day! Ha, ha.

Have a good weekend everyone and remember winter driving conditions are in effect.

Walter199, from a previous story on 250 News, November 28;

“Prince George, B.C.- When Monday rolls around, if you haven’t had a flu shot and plan to visit someone in the hospital or a care home, flu_shotyou will be asked to wear a mask.

As of December 1st, the policy kicks in as an effort to protect patients and seniors who are most at risk of complications from the flu. Anyone who enters a hospital, long-term care facility or any other health-care facility will be expected to wear a mask if they haven’t been vaccinated against influenza. Masks will be available, free of charge, for those who have not been vaccinated.

If you do plan on visiting someone in one of these facilities, or if you take family members to outpatient appointments, you are eligible for a free flu shot. Flu shots are available at pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and public health clinics.”

Remember..Wash your hands in the sink to your right, unless you choose to pass!

Happy Friday:)

Get ready for the Christmas shoppong craziness. Be safe out there everyone :-)

I see the price of Brent Crude is down to $66.35 a barrel this morning.

The world price of oil has dropped over 35% in the last six months or so,
and gas prices are slowly coming down in the US, although not even close to how fast they go up of course, when they can find some excuse to shove them up there.

Not so in Canada — have you noticed the price of diesel especially on the signs out there?

Oh yeah, we have our own Canadian oil reserves and captive customers, so no need to compete here with the rest of the world, —- right?

Just how much we are being manipulated at the pumps is becoming so glaringly obvious its pathetic.

“Just how much we are being manipulated at the pumps is becoming so glaringly obvious its pathetic.”

I see lots and lots and lots of people lined up buying the stuff. The price doesn’t seem to be a deterrent to them.

Kudos to the snow clearing crews! My road is totally ready for the next big dump. If this is kept up all winter I might rethink my retirement plan to move to sunny Abbotsford. ☻

Fuel up here in PEORIA [metro phoenix AZ ] yesterday diesel was$3.39 us dollars for us gal.3.78 lt. dollar %17 exchange = to $1.049 a lt. still cheaper then PG That was at fry grocery’s store if you use your loyalty card you get another 10 cents a gal. off

Drive in any lane you want in town. The left lane is only for passing on the highways.

Last time I checked hyway 16 and 97 went right through the city.

Forty cents a litre more up here in Canada eats up quite the chunk of income out of the pockets of our families, considering the extra cost of even just keeping vehicles running through the winter months, handycap.

There’s a lot of places that extra thirty – forty bucks I have to fork over every time I fill up here, would be far better spent, especially in winter when expenses shoot up for families from all sides.

Drive in any lane you want in town. The left lane is only for passing on the highways.

———-

In town, I like to consider the left lane as the “through lane”. If I’m not turning right (the most common turn) I will use the left lane so that the people coming off the side streets can get in and moving. That way, traffic flows nicely and everyone is happy. :)

The only way you will get diesel fuel prices down in this town is to boycott one of the fuel outlets. So someone please pick a company.

Anybody know where I can find information re supplying goods and services to the Canada Winter Games? I have checked on B.C. bid and saw one request for medals for B.C. athletes to trade with others recently, but am wondering if there are other opportunities for local companies. It’s going to be interesting to see how much Prince George will benefit after all the dust/snow has settled. Also have heard people grumbling about how disorganized the Games office is.

People think we have bad drivers here and we do have them here but by and far the vast majority aren’t even among the worst drivers in BC let alone Canada. Calgary, Kamloops, Kelowna and Hongcouver drivers are considerably worse at driving than the average bad driver up here. In any one of the other named cities put a little snow and ice on the road and it’s instant gridlock due to accidents, very slow drivers and many other things and unfortunately I have had the displeasure of driving in each of these cities with the exception of Hongcouver in the winter time and let me tell you they all have much much worse drivers than here in PG.

Heard from a friend recently that the Cariboo Lodge Resort in Clinton has been purchased by a company from China. Four staff are already gone.
What is up with that?

“The only way you will get diesel fuel prices down in this town is to boycott one of the fuel outlets. So someone please pick a company.”

If COSTCO were to add diesel pumps for passenger vehicles the price would come down immediately.

Costco doesn’t sell diesel anywhere in Canada. I doubt PG will be the first location to do so.

palomino: “Forty cents a litre more up here in Canada eats up quite the chunk of income out of the pockets of our families, considering the extra cost of even just keeping vehicles running through the winter months, handycap.”

Like cigarettes and booze, a significant potion of the gas price in Canada is tax.

lbear, the Chinese already own half of our province and our resources here, so no surprise to me that they purchased another piece of real estate. Whether we like it or not, the amount of foreign investment will continue to rise because, simply put, they have more money than us! If we try to limit the amount of foreign investment, we also limit the amount of jobs that are available. Depressing, isn’t it??

” I will use the left lane so that the people coming off the side streets can get in and moving.”
Me too, good point!

Wondering why this site went silent on the conservative nomination? No coverage of TJ’s endorsement of TD?

For the past three nights there have been a number of ER vehicles at the entrance to PGARA on Highway 16E including, at various times; police, fire truck, Search & Rescue, ambulance, first aid truck. Anyone know what’s going on… training for the Games maybe?

“Last time I checked hyway 16 and 97 went right through the city.”

Yes, they do and are subject to rules of driving within the city unless otherwise posted (like on the Hart). Pretty sure you are NOT saying stay right except to pass on Victoria Street downtown (which is part of the “highway”) Just like you cannot drive the default highway speed (80km) within city limits.

I am wondering too Furbink. Are the 2 candidates working together now? TJ made a good choice, to endorse Todd. Vote Yes for Todd!!

Nothing I hate worse when driving is a left lane hog. Within the city or not….
KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS!!!!!

lbear… I hope to hell that is not true. That has been our go-to place every August for the past decade, and would hate to see it change.

To the people who figure they are smart enough to run things on the PG Conservative Riding and Theatre Northwest boards, thanks for ruining the volunteer experience and for making it so that NO ONE will want to volunteer on these boards. If it was your intent to scare people away with your petty politics and ramming of your own agendas down other people’s throats, job well done!

In case no one noticed, I am really tired of some of the nasty people who get involved with volunteer organizations just to have things their own way. Call me naive but I thought when one joins a volunteer organization one was to work with others for the greater good of that organization; a so-called meeting of minds; a joining of forces (not evil forces).

Here in Vanderhoof, any hay producing land that was for sale or not has been bought by Chinese investors. Then the hay is being squished and sent overseas. As a hobby horse owner finding hay this year and the coming years was and is going to be almost impossible.

Nothing I hate worse when driving is a left lane hog. Within the city or not….
KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS!!!!!

Here’s one of our many professional drivers out on the highways. The guy on the left kept pace with the guy on the right for almost 5 km.

They are at it again!Door to door people in the name of Access Gas, with a myriad of inuendo to get you to change from Fortice to their Co.
They use the story that they store the gas for up to five years for Fortice and can offer a lower rate. They tell you they will kick your rate down to the rate prior to the latest rate offered by Fortice. When they fill out the documentation for for you to join Access. the rate is much higher than what you are currently paying. At this point they are suggesting that is the high average you have been paying Fortice.
This is not true. Dig out your gas bills for the past few months and you will find Fortices rate (which is at its highest ever), but when the agent fills in the rate on the form to convert to Access, it is much higher.
This is another natural gas scam, so throw the bum out.
Dont get scammed by ACCESS GAS SERVICES!!!!!!!!!!!

Scary sherry should be a shoe in for this CRAPPER nomination…seems they like the worst of the ?????????…she fit rite in there.

I have volunteered for many organization over the years and for those that are nasty I do not waste my energy with them. There are negative people in all walks of life. Sometimes that is their way to draw attention. I am thankful for today for my family and friends, and health too. Have a great weekend everyone!

Livingonwater makes a good point.

The hay (alfalfa) that is grown in the Vanderhoof area is good for the dairy industry, and as a result it is grown, compressed, and shipped in containers to China to the Chinese dairies. This of course creates a shortage of hay in BC (Canada) which results in increased prices and increased costs of transportation.

The USA has been having this problem for a number of years. There are huge exports of alfalfa from the USA to China for the diary industry. As a result the cost of hay, and milk, etc; has gone up substantially in the USA.

Sooooo. Whats the problems. Well the problem is, is that the dairy industry in China, like all industry in China, is wholly or partly owned by the Chinese Government. Furthermore the ships that haul the Containers are also owned by the Chinese Government. COSCO stands for Chinese Overseas Shipping Co, and is a Chinese Government owned shipping line.

Soooo. We are competing with the Chinese Government business’s for hay, lumber, etc;. and of course we lose, and they win. We have no idea what kind of rates a Government owned entity would pay a Government owned entity.

These are the types of problems that should be looked into by Initiative’s Prince George if they want to be realistic about being a service for this area. Are Chinese Government supported industry in Canada killing off Canadian jobs, and industry, and if so what can we do about it.

Good post trackster. The best response when a gas marketer shows up at your door is to say ‘not interested’ and close the door. Do not let them start talking, everything that comes out of their mouths is a lie to get you to sign on the dotted line.

Handycap fuel taxes like the insane carbon tax is why fuel prices are high. As for diesel it’s prices tend to stay up because of heavy industrial use. I have been in Alberta when no diesel was available and had to buy some off a grain farmer.

Good morning all you guys up in George. Nice day in Abby temperature at a balmy 5c had a little shower last night but its dry at the moment.

Notice a number of accidents in PG last week. Guess the roads were the pits. Dearth has taken the wind ou of my sails as I wanted to talk about bad drives. You may have bad drivers in PG but like dearth tell us we have that many more here and we aren’t near Hongcouver.

Our neighbours, Seniors were back ended yesterday. Forced their car into the car in front of them. Was at a traffic signal in the through lane (take not axman) there is a vehicle in the left turn slot and along comes this driver and make a left turn in the on coming lane.

And I notice axman going through an intersection in the left lane. That is encouraging. And imagine the guy that wants to make a right turn can do so when safe and doesn’t have some clown in front of him that is going through the intersection. Good move axman.

Had to stop at Seven Oaks mall yesterday and what a zoo. I guess Pine Centre is getting busy as well. Well you guys happy shopping. Christmas is just around the corner and then all will be calm .
Cheers

Palopu: “These are the types of problems that should be looked into by Initiative’s Prince George if they want to be realistic about being a service for this area.”

Really? You think IPG should look into land sales in Vanderhoof? They are an sub-municipal organization that has no power to do anything about that. Policies like that are dealt with on the Provincial and Federal levels.

I don’t know what the obsession is regarding the stay right except to pass. I live in College Heights and travel HWG 16 everyday and the stay right except to pass rule that some of you obsess about just doesn’t apply here. Of course, there are the idiots who do use this rule and then cross 2 lanes to get into the turn lane at 16 and Tyner. We do not have rush hour in Prince George we have rush minute. So you get home 30 seconds later because someone dared to stay in the left lane. At least the streets are plowed so far this year and we have a left lane.

Funny how the whining left is all for government competing with private interests and Wheat Boards and dairy protection, but when it is the Chinese Government: “…Oh the horror!”

Hey,Hartly 2 there is lots of room here for all my friends from PG.

And Jimmy for gods sake give it a rest.

Says the attention starved senior from “Abby”.

Sending out a big “THANK YOU!!” to the city for ploughing out the trails through Gladstone Park. It’s so much more enjoyable to go for a morning walk through the park than on the street.

have to agree with oneup482 , same thing on the hart when the 500 is running . getting from the right lane into the left and making a left turn can be a death defying experience . suspect that a lot of the left lane for through traffic and passing only crowd are the same that are going 20k+ over the posted speed . while sure 16 and 97 are highways they are not controlled access freeways with right lane entries and exits .

RE Door to Door Salesmen or Telemarketers : Don’t speak to them , hang up or don’t open the Door, Problem solved!

Re Canada Post:

Have you been assigned a Rural Mailbox Location far away from you , rather then the closest one ? Am I the only one having a Problem like this, you can’t talk to them, no way will they change your Location.

I’m surprised nobody is railing on about having to pay sales tax on that old atv/utv you went to register as per the new legislation.

Every ATV/UTV and dirtbike will sell for 1 dollar, when being sold as used.

Mytwobits
Info on selling to CWG has been out for well over a year.
Back then the best way was to attend some of the seminars put on, watch BCBid, and contact the CWG teams directly. Need to get on that train early.
Too late now, only 69 days left.
Try the billet or volunteer route now.

I would like to congratulate the Prince George Pacific Western Brewing Co. for producing a good tasting Festbier and offering a beautiful bonus mug to get you into the celebration spirit. Well done!

Tractor:
“Nothing I hate worse when driving is a left lane hog. Within the city or not…. KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS!!!!!”

You are right. A left lane hog tractor does not belong there. Although I was never passed by one.

Abby that utopia, gang vandalism, fighting, sex attacks, mushroom and manure stink, traffic, no ice fishing, no snowmobiling, no atving, no hiking away from crowds, no hunting, down wind from metro Vancouver. Dam it must be boring there.

“For the past three nights there have been a number of ER vehicles at the entrance to PGARA on Highway 16E including, at various times; police, fire truck, Search & Rescue, ambulance, first aid truck. Anyone know what’s going on… training for the Games maybe?”

A crand tipped over the other day onto the high voltage lines that run behing PGARA.

Gas marketers – here’s something to keep in mind – they don’t own any gas. If they lock you into a price that’s say 20% higher than Fortis, but tell you – you’re good for 5 years, and then natural gas say doubles, all they will do, is declare bankruptcy, because they don’t own any natural gas, they’re gambling the 20% mark up will cover the future, but guaranteed, these are corporations with few assets, and regular dividends paid to the parent corp, so that if it goes bad, there’s nothing to sue for. So, you’re really paying a premium for nothing at all. Price stays low, they win, price goes too high, they win because they paid out all their profits in legal dividends already.

BTW – took two ski trips up to PK and was impressed on the quality of snow clearing since they made it a class A highway. Still the same dunderheads coming out of the bush and trying to save 10 minutes, but at least there’s a cleared shoulder to move over to when they end up in your lane.

“no hiking away from crowds” On that one Seamut, your dead wrong. My wife and I go hiking virtually every weekend and rarely come across other people, let alone a crowd. The trail entrances are only 10-15 min. from our door, and I live an hour closer to Vancouver than Abbotsford. Look up Buntzen Lake, as that is one of our go-to spots.

Fighting, Gang vandalism, sex attacks….really Seamut, you’re going to go there on that subject?

State owned enterprises are uncompetitive, subsidized, revenue sucking, job killing, and shouldn’t be allowed in Canada. Unless, of course, it’s owned by a communist regime with an atrocious human rights record and predatory business practices. Then, hey!, doors open, c’mon in, take what you want for pennies on the dollar.

JohnnyBelt. These containers are loaded in Vanderhoof, however they ship out from the CN container yard in Prince George to Prince Rupert.

My point is that IPG could look into the ramifications of this type of business, and its impact on local business’s, rather than sit on their butts and make fancy brochures. In other words perhaps do some meaningful work. Just how much effect has the shortage of hay have on the beef business in the greater Prince George area?? Just askin.

Another example would be shipping dimension lumber to China in containers, where it is made into door/window frames, etc; and shipped back to North America. One would think that we would be able to make these products in Prince George, (We used to) but apparently not.

Palopu – we can do all those things, we just don’t have anyone willing to do it for the wages the Chinese pay. The wages and benefits we pay, make the product too expensive to sell in North America. Besides, we can hardly keep our Tim Horton’s staffed, how will we ever find people to work in manufacturing plants for $10.50 an hour.

Palopu: “Another example would be shipping dimension lumber to China in containers, where it is made into door/window frames, etc; and shipped back to North America. One would think that we would be able to make these products in Prince George, (We used to) but apparently not.”

Let’s see. You have two doorframes side by side, one says Made in Canada – $100, then one next to it which says “Made in China” – $50. Which one are you going to buy? The proliferance of big box stores should tell you what decision people have made. The pursuit and demand of cheaper goods by the North American consumer is what killed the manufacturing industry.

Again, if you’re expecting IPG to solve this problem, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Comments here are exactly why they have to clarify some of the driving regulations that are fairly vague. There is no “through lane” in Prince George, well maybe in people’s heads – there are however “keep right except to pass” signs at all entrances into this city along its highways. Most recently logging trucks have been using this “through lane” excuse down central, be nice once the new regulation makes its way through the legislature.

Those left lane hogs referred to here above while driving south of the border all have BC plates on them (it would appear), that is why there was a warning in Vancouver papers and news programs extra ticket one might get while cross border shopping and driving like a BCer

@ski50: Good explanation of gas marketers. Anyone who is thinking of signing up with one of these sketchy companies should read what you have written.

================================================================

Yeah, I think it’s pretty universally accepted that Vancouver and the LML is a world class destination when it comes to outdoor recreational opportunities.

I think most people would actually be surprised at what some of the major urban areas in Canada can offer in those regards. I think people often assume associate large cities with “concrete jungles” and that’s not always the case, not by a long shot.

Comments here are exactly why they have to clarify some of the driving regulations that are fairly vague. There is no “through lane” in Prince George…

———-

I should have been more clear. When I said, “In town, I like to consider the left lane as the “through lane”.” I was referring to streets like Ospika, Massey and 15th as examples. I like to consider it a courtesy to other drivers; I am under no obligation to do so.

And yes, there are no absolutes to this. I’ll take the right lane in town if the left lane is slow for example.

Common courtesy is all to uncommon these days.

I’d post my own comment about people who haven’t a clue how to signal left or right when driving, but Rick Mercer’s Rant this week was killer on the subject…

——

I have a question; it’s been bothering me for a while now. Well actually, it’s been bothering me since about eight o’clock this morning when I was almost crushed by an SUV on my way to work. When did using a turn signal become optional in this country?

Remember the turn signal? That little stick on the left hand side of the steering wheel? I say “remember” because I’m guessing a lot of Canadians, they have no idea what that stick is or what it’s used for.

If aliens came down from outer space and studied the way Canadians drive they would assume that using a turn signal was a voluntary exercise and that there were no actual firm guidelines surrounding its use.

Refresher: it’s to signal people, it tells people what you’re about to do before you do it. Which comes in handy at 110 kilometres an hour. And all of you people who use it to tell people what you have done? After you have done it? You are doing it wrong.

And to you, the guy in the intersection who decides at the last minute to turn left but decides that there is no reason in the world to tell anyone what you’re up to or why you’ve suddenly stopped on a green light. You sir are not only a bad driver, you’re a bad person. How bad? Everyone around you hates you. But don’t worry, I can help you. There’s a simple solution.

Signal.

It’s as easy as lifting a finger. Literally. So this holiday season, save a life, lift a finger. So the rest of us don’t have to show you ours.

The other day I was heading south towards PG and before the Salmon Valley passing lane I caught up to a group of about six vehicles doing between 70 to 75k. There was light snow but the highway was pretty good. When I got to the passing lane I actually sped up to 110k and never passed a single vehicle. After the passing lane traffic slowed down to 75 again. Talk about rude and dangerous habits.

You were challenging their manhood; they had no other choice. :)

On the up side, when you meet up with a courteous driver it is such a pleasure!

“and the RCMP’s emergency response team were all involved in the infestation, which is being led by the Surrey RCMP” from the Vancouver Sun.
Sometimes the words just don’t come out right. LOL

NMG, Seamut
“My wife and I go hiking virtually every weekend and rarely come across other people, let alone a crowd.”\

I hike ‘The Forests for the World’ in Prince George regularly. Some years ago, I saw black bears sunning by the water tower, I spooked bears on their day beds while bushwacking around Shane Lake, I talked to panicky people who threw rocks at non aggressive bears they encountered on the trail to the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).

Now, I do not encounter any bears. The area was sanitized by BC Conservation Officers to safe guard the university students. Therefore, “My wife and I go hiking virtually every weekend…”. Yes , same here in ‘The Forests for the World’. Families are enjoying the outings and the nature. But there is one difference: there are no bears anymore.

Years ago, when returning to the trail head at the parking area and mentioned the sighting of a bear to a couple ready to start their hike, the wife always turned, walked back to the car and the husband scolded me for ruining their weekend recreation by mentioning “bear”.

We’ve got bears and deer, and we don’t even need to head to the trails. I’ve had them below my front stoop in our townhouse. They’re in the trail system behind our complex. I heard one this summer dragging somebody’s BBQ in the middle of the night.

We also have resident owls (often on our back deck), eagles, racoons and coyotes. All of which help keep the cat population in check.

Pylot Project

It started out that you are cool living with wild animals like bears … but then you turn on domestic ones like cats. Are you bi or funny. Please explain.

WHAT’S with the roads???? All icy and no sand… All over, dntn, hyway 16 ect..

To those who think they are cautious drivers and hogging the left lane, PULL over to the right lane when you see bunch of cars on your tail.. Cray drivers around here. Not to sound sexist, but I counted 15 female drivers doing that today

It’s funny, in all my years of living in PG I never recall seeing a racoon. They are as common out here in Ottawa as crows are in PG. The same goes for skunks, LOL.

Bears are a very rare sight in the city here, but I’d hazard a guess that I see deer 50% of the time I’m out for a run in the greenbelt. Other creatures regularly encountered are coyotes (much bigger out here than the ones you get out west), wild turkeys (what goofy looking things), owls, hawks and all sorts of very colourful birds that I really can’t identify. Although, I did see a number of cardinals last year and the are really something else to see. Also saw some turkey vultures up close and they are rather large and ghastly, LOL.

Ottawa is pretty cool in that there is a giant greenbelt area running from one end of the city to the other. It’s mainly comprised of hardwood forest, marsh land and small lakes. I suppose it would be similar to Forests for the World but on a much larger scale. Just over on the Quebec side is Gatineau Park, which is actually the foothills of the Laurentian Mountains. Loads of great hiking over there, along with caving, waterfalls, canoeing, etc.

There are many days when I’m out and about and I don’t see anyone else. It’s actually not much different from PG in that way. I think it’s just the sheer size of the “playground” so to speak.

Mountie got shot down in Kamloops, still in hospital. You know, they go through a lot of crap. This guy was doing a traffic stop, which they do thousands of times across the country every day and night and we don’t hear of the abuse heaped on them, or about the drunks that fall out of their vehicles when a sobriety check is in order, or some other hilarious stunts drivers will say or pull.
Just wanted to bring to everyone’s attention: Where would we be without them, scraping us off the pavement, separating the husband and wife who are having a fight, looking for that missing kid? Lifting that dead body out of the car…..
Just wanted to say thanks. May your shifts be safe ones.

Pylot Project, some people consider Abby and area an utopia, that is what I was referring to. As for trails hard to get away from people on the urban trails. As for a long weekend in the lower mainland one almost needs a reservation on the trails. Having said that getting back a little further from the main trails does leave the crowd behind. One of my favorite areas was behind Burke Mtn to Widgeon lake. Up behind Hemlock ski area another good hiking area.

Here is an interesting read on the doom and gloomers about AGW, food scarcity, overpopulation. George Carlins take is great, look it up on youtube.

Wont see this in the Citizen

To all you trail hikers in Abbotsford – I bet you have to take your car to get a trail. Where I live in PG, my dog and I only have to walk a block.

Love your comment-Grizzly2.
Most of the time -it seems a thankless job. And then to be shot at?!!!
Where would we be without them-consider that.

Selling our land: Good point Livingonwater

In the last decade there have been some very large parcels of prime arable farms and ranches around Pr. George. They were either purchased or leased for 99 years, by some big world corporations, and have been planted back to trees with the intent to compensate for their pollution creating factories around the world. It’s call carbon credit offset. Johnson and Johnson are one of these companies.

Planting good land back to trees is not helping our grain and hay shortage. We approached Pat Bell about this 5 years ago and nothing has been done to stop this as of yet

itelman… it was meant to be darkly funny. I have no problem with cats, but a lot of neighbours have “lost” their animals due to their stupidity in not keeping their cats in at night.

lbear… I walk across the street to a trail system at Bert Flynn Park. Pooch comes with us daily. There’s a bat colony in there too. I think they’re cool but I know few people that it gives the creeps.

PrinceGeorge: If all the Costco members would ask for selling diesel on comment cards at the store, I’m sure they would consider it. Not enough people are asking for it. They were considering it last summer but there was not enough interest shown to make it practical.

Let them know you want it.

Like trickster said, I had a guy from Access Gas come to the door this evening. He claimed that he just wanted to make sure that I was “registered for the customer choice program”. In fact, what these people are trying to do is to get you to choose them as your gas provider. You don’t need to register for any program. As far as I am concerned, this is consumer fraud. You can make a complaint to the BC Utilities Commission.
